Are videos much better for a sales page?

As some of you may have read in previous posts, I'm creating an info-product. Do sales pages typically convert better with video or can they do just as well without?

    I've had first-hand experience here. Videos do increase conversions, but they're no substitute, in my opinion, for everything else that we should include as well.

    Like Victoria said, from what I've seen (although I don't have first hand experience) videos do increase conversions but you cannot solely rely on them.

    If you do include a video also make sure its high quality as a low quality (or a mid quality if the product you're selling is high price) could actually damage your conversions.

      Welovetheshow speaks the truth. When I started out incorporating videos, I actually had a dip in conversions. After testing (though it really wasn't needed, because I saw my mistake right away) it was down to poor quality videos.

    Video sells coaching better. Text sells info products better. Combo of both sells most everything else I've ever tried to sell in this niche.

    It's weird because when I get to a sales page, if there is a video, I find it very annoying. I'd much rather read the text. I hate it when the video starts by itself...I always scramble for the stop button!

      But, yeah, I realize that a lot of people like video. A lot of people like long drawn out video.

      They will sit enraptured by a video with no controls and no idea of how long the repetitive drivel will drone on and on before coming to a point.

      Not that I mind...

      Remember you're not your prospect. It's what ever the customer wants since they're the people spending the money.

    You have to remember that irritating things in marketing are usually the things that work: videos that autoplay; repetition; email signup forms that popup; and so forth.

      I know you're right Victoria...it just seems to go against my natural instincts but I know I have to get rid of that mentality.

        It's difficult, and I'm in entirely the same boat; have been for 20 years. But - at the risk of contradicting myself - don't necessarily listen to me or anyone. I'm always experimenting and trying new things. More often than not, the marketing methods I want to change simply resist it, but you do get the odd breakthrough. Think back to The Rich Jerk. His way of marketing broke many principles and worked a treat.

    Videos are wonderful at converting. You can show who you really are and that gives your target audience a chance to bond with you faster. There is a big shift to video everywhere on the internet. I'd definitely mix video with text to get both types. You could start with a video and then state in that vid to continue reading or something similar.

    Audio quality is also crucial with video--they'll tolerate low res, but not bad audio.

    If you're on a low budget, a casual setting with a whiteboard to write key points and point at has worked nicely for me.

    It depends on how the person is. A creative person who doesn't really like reading will most likely prefer to watch a video. A person who is an avid reader might prefer to read the sales page.

    I do not like sales pages with vids as they take time to load.

    I haven't noticed a change in my sales with a video sales letter. I prefer text letters.... loads faster on slow computers, and just easier to create. You certainly won't go broke using one or the other... dont stress too hard over it. Just do the marketing for your product.

    Yep my experience is that a combination of the two works best. Some people prefer written content. In my experience written content is also easier to rank in Google.
