Hello fellow warriors, you see, we all know the one or other system how to determine a salesprice from existing revenue. But what about the traffic? Lets assume that i have a website that gets 5-10 uniques per day and the usual huge numbers when submitting new articles. But that website isn't monetized (in my specific case: I am not AdSense approved). I haven't made good experiences with affiliate offers. How can i determine a good salesprice judged only by traffic? Do you have any rule of thumb? I would love to move on from startup websites to established websites (working one or two weeks exclusively on traffic generation), but I lack a proper system to determine a websites value based on traffic. Can you help me? Kind regards, Karsten Stork |

Comeon guys, what is traffic worth to you if the website hasn't been monetized?

With the salesmanship in that post, i would say the traffic is worth nothing. If you can convince anyone it can be converted into $$$, and that it should be very easy, then you could sell it. All your potential buyers are going to wonder why you haven't made any money with it though. I don't think 5-10 visitors a day will create very many clicks on anything. I wouldn't pay more than $10-15 for that unless it was a really pretty site. ![]() Shoot for a lot more traffic unless its in a very targeted/profitable niche. Good luck! |

What about adding up all the value that went into the site, then try to market it that way. $8->?? - Domain (depending on the catchyness). $10->$100 - 10 unique articles/Pictures $10 - Free blog theme and word press install ??? - SEO (if its not getting traffic, the quality of seo might be suspect). Plus anything else you can do to add value... (excluding traffic and conversion). Your market is probably going to be offline beginners who haven't learned to worry about those things yet? |

No I'm a regular website flipper at SitePoint. I build the websites before I find someone to sell them too |

I've found that sometimes having traffic and no earnings can hurt you - even more than no traffic. People wonder why it hasn't made money and they assume it's a dud. Maybe you could try YPN and put that on instead of adsense? |

Many buyers on Sitepoint are newbies and you can talk til the cows come home about the 'potential' of your site, but if you can't back it up with some proof then it's just talk. If you (the experienced) can't successfully monetize the site then who's to say that a buyer will be able to? Honestly by submitting some articles to Ezinearticles it shouldn't be that difficult to make some sales (if you send your traffic to a good presell). Otherwise it probably won't be worth putting time into traffic generation because 2 weeks of traffic isn't really worth anything to the buyer. | |

What is YPN? I thought about AdBrite but I heard many bad things about them - and the 2 months waiting time sucks.
