I'm getting a ton of requests from people that want to charge people to have their links removed from their directories. In a way, I feel bad for the people who have the links in the directories, no matter how they got there. In another way, I feel like Google set up this whole scenario in the first place. So long as Google is going to make people clean up their backlink profile, there are going to be people that are going to want to monetize that, whether they are doing it in an ethical way or not. What do you think?

That people who feel the need to kiss Google's ass are in a bad position.

Google has virtually created a new business model of paid link removals, and they warn their Webmaster Tools users that they need to comply which in effect scares them into paying for removal. The word "rackaterring" comes to mind. Imagine if there was a google employee that also had a stake in the links themselves. There are a lot of things I like about Google, so don't get me wrong, but it seems no matter how Google plays it, they create a wonderful business for someone that wants to do something shady, and honest people get caught in the middle of it.
