How much money is spent in the IM Industry?

Does anyone know how much money is spent in the Internet Marketing industry?

For example, travel is an 8$ Trillion per day industry. This is what people spend in the travel industry per year.

How much is spent on Internet Marketing products each year?

    It really depends on how broad you want to go with "Internet Marketing"

    If you're talking about ALL of the marketing done on the internet its easily in the trillions, and I'd be willing to say it surpasses the travel industry.

    Judging by your last sentence though I'm guessing you're just talking about people selling IM products like WSO's. I can't find a specific source for this, but I know I've read somewhere that the total amount of money spent on IM products is in the billions.

        The number is in the Hundreds of billions, if not into the Trillions.

        • Apple 8 Billion ( online only )
        • Amazon 60 Billion ( 2012 )
        • Staples 10 billion ( online )
        • Sears 4 billion ( online )
        • Target 1.5 billion ( online - only about 2% of sales )
        You get the idea... a ton of money! and to think that Mobile is projected to capture 15% of these numbers in the coming year. Kinda scarry.

    IM isn't an industry. It's a venue. You mention travel at 8 trillion a day. I think you need to check your figures. Aside from having a misplaced zero or two, much of the travel industry is promoted on the Internet. Everything that sells on eBay is part of gross Internet sales. Everything that sells on Amazon, the Warrior forum, Macys online outlet, Priceline... the list is endless, it's all Internet marketing.

    IM isn't just selling ebooks and membership sites. IM is a "place" where you cans sell bulldozers, jet planes and human body parts and just about anything you can think of.

    You would want to research your target market before diving into it to ensure there is a good chances of making some cool cash..

    I don't think there is an accurate way to track or estimate a number like that. You could look at mainstream ads sales, but that only accounts for a portion.

    As has been pointed out, internet marketing isn't an industry as such - it's a means of marketing products and services online. If you're asking how much money is spent online, an indication of the scale can be gleaned by looking at the figures from market research company, ComScore.

    It reports that in the USA alone, consumers spent $42.75 billion online between Nov 29th 2013 (Black Friday) and Dec 22nd 2013 (a period of just over three weeks).

    Although this represented a 10% increase over 2012's figures for the same period, it was still below many forecasters' expectations.

    There is no way to calculate the IM industry. It's too narrow of a niche. Your example was the Travel Industry, which can be calculated overall, but what about "vacations to Peurto Rico?" how big of an industry is that?

    See it doesn't make sense.


    Internet Marketing is a niche inside Home Based Business > inside Business Niche... Maybe research home based business instead.
