What to do when a customer's PayPal email does not work

I have a customer who purchased a product but his email address does not receive any email at all. When I try to send an email to his address it comes back with an error saying no such user etc...

What do you do in this case?

Thanks

I have found the customer's profile on Facebook. He has disabled the message feature, so I commented publicly on one of his photos butI have found the customer's profile on Facebook. What's not cool is that he keeps filling the contact form asking for help... I wish I could!

I had a client do that. For some reason they kept typing their email wrong. Took me a while to figure it out.

Besides what you have already done, you could Google them but I wouldn't spend much time on THEIR problem.

It is very unlikely that a Paypal email will not work but if it's really bouncing back, Just wait for him to contact you about his order.

I was thinking the same thing. Are you sure your trying to email him to his pay pal email address? Of course, many people have more than one email.

    Thanks guys.
Of course PayPal emails have no typos as they are verified before being used there. The user however may have a problem with his hosting or domain registration etc...
Hi finally replied to the comment and sent a new support email with a new address on another domain name.
    Problem solved.

Don't you guys think PayPal should ad a messaging feature to contact the users without firing a dispute?

no, that would open them up for crap they do not need to deal with. think of how easily that could be abused by internet marketeers.

Im guessing he paid you with the credit card and not paypal. because his email should show up on the transaction. maybe try requiring people to enter their paypal transaction id on your product support contact form.

Sounds like you need some way on your end to link the username with the customer.

      Glad you got it resolved.

Just to mention some things raised in the thread. It is not unusual or difficult for someone to have an invalid email for a valid PayPal account.

I don't think PayPal verifies the email on every transaction. It is just used to login to PayPal and confirm the payment.

I used to have email from the free @canada.com and my canada.com address was my Primary PayPal. When canada.com stopped their email service and closed all the accounts, my Primary PayPal email was still @canada.com.

I had to change my Primary PayPal address myself through my PayPal account settings.

It is now @domain-I-own.com. If I do not re-register domain-I-own.com when it expires I will again have an invalid email address for my Primary PayPal address.

Login to Paypal --> Profile --> My Selling Tools

There's an option for "Customer service message". Click to update.

You may want to add something about "In the past we've experienced issues with emails not reaching our support desk, please try contacting us using a different address (other than the one you used to purchase) before filing a dispute."

This will be show to the buyer before they file a dispute...

You can also add things like "Please note: all refunds are processed within 24 - 48 hours when the request is placed through our support desk. Filing a dispute will delay the refund for up to 14 days" (this will help lower the amount of disputes you receive since people want their money back right away)

well, if he keeps messaging you on a contact form why dont you write right near your form something like:

Every client with a lost order, plase add your best email adress to your message so that we could send your order.

Quite easy and shall do the trick. Hope this helps.

I would wait until they got in touch with me. If the pp email address doesn't work, there's something odd happening.
