I have a forum that in the niche it is in hits the top 5 of google everytime for every search performed in that niche.

I had adsense on it but had the account closed due to some competitor clicking on it.

I currently try to monetize it via amazon, get a lot of clicks but no sales. I think due to the generic amazon link.

I was wondering if there is any sort of plugin or program I can install that would search amazon for the keyword that has led the person to my forum. Something sort of like viglink(which I also use). Lets say that someone looked up green widgets in google, one of my posts came up in 1st position and was clicked and led to the post in forum talking about green widgets. Is there something i can run to have an ad or link showing green widgets in amazon or where ever?

Another option is to contact sites that are related to your content to see if they have affiliate programs. Or possibly ask them about advertising on your site. Have your traffic and demographic info handy as that will help determine pricing.

You can partner with some guys, for example do a JV here at WF and offer them some 10-305 of adsene earnings to be able to use their code and then you split the income.
I am sure lots of folks would be intereted in sucj a venture so that you pay them out oney for only using thir adsense code, lol.
    Win win for both.
    Hope this helps.

Look into buysellads.com or look for some smaller ad networks... if you know the ip of the user that was maliciously clicking your ads, let your network know so they can block it ahead of time.

You could also consider monetizing with cpa offers. Face it, a lot of forum visitors are looking for information and are curious. May explain why your Amazon link gets a lot of clicks but no sales.
With the cpa approach, the person doesn't need to buy for you to be paid. May just have to sign up for something, so it's less intimidating and doesn't require the same commitment as an actual purchase.

Thanks all for the info. Any other ideas on how to monitize a forum?

When I was compiling the data for FindAForum I found that a lot of forums had sponsors for many of the main sections of the site. This is particularly common in the car niche (one of the major forum niches).

Go find the major players in your niche and get them to sponsor some of your forum.

Depending on which forum software you are using, there should be an Amazon affiliate plug in that will automatically enter your affiliate link on every outbound link to Amazon.

After you install the plug in, you could create a subforum specifically for product reviews and then ask your members for product reviews of items they have used from Amazon.

If you can't get voluntary reviews, then don't be afraid to pay for reviews, so long as they are truthful, lengthy and relevant to the product being talked about.

All links out from these reviews should be fully monetized and hit the page of the product being reviewed, rather than being a homepage Amazon link.

In this way, you are creating good content for your forum as well as monetizing.

If you're using vBulletin, you can use

    vBadvanced

to add Amazon/other modules to monetize your forum.

    What software are you using?

You could open a classified section on your forum where you let members buy a post. Charge what you think the posts are worth.

Or, get sponsors for each subforum and offer a sticky post on that subforum related to their niche. Many forum and blog owners would jump at the opportunity to sponsor a subforum if they thought it would result in increased traffic to their own site.

You just have to find the right people who would want to advertise on your site and sell them on the benefits, rather than waiting for these people to come to you.

I read somewhere that a member of the adminzone was banned as her signature line had a link to an admin forum (that she owned) and apparently they don't allow 'competitor's to advertise on the site. True or not, it's something to think about. If someone is posting there as a forum owner and owns an admin forum; they would be better off leaving that out of the signature line.

Barring the forum is about an admin related topic, they actually have some decent topics there and plenty of knowledgeable people to talk about forum management.

I hear people saying that all the time. Are you sure it was your competitors clicking on your ads? Why didn't you report fraud clicks then?

If competitors can click and ban you there would be no adsense account holders around. Everyone has competition and clickbombing would kill everyone....

Please don't blame your competitors for your adsense ban.
