Wow! I have been away for 2 years today...

I checked my stats and my last post is exactly today TWO YEARS AGO.

Honestly, I don't have most of my online assets that I used to back then. In the past two years, I did a lot more programming than online marketing. Two years ago, from a freelancing gig, the project evolved into a start-up, which I am still pretty much involved in today.

I don't know what brought me here today. But here I am.

Something I am doing on my own on the side, which has nothing to do with my startup I am working in, is DreamWhipper.com.

Anyway, if you think you can use my input on things, I pretty much into tech stuffs like PHP programming, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Photoshop-to-HTML/CSS, hosting, Amazon Web Service, cloud hosting, Wordpress, those kind of stuffs.

Glad to be here again.

Oh yeah... on another note, when it comes to online marketing, I pretty much rusty...

I don't know what works and what doesn't anymore. Article marketing, video marketing, SEO, PPC... Care to give me an update on what's the in thing and what works today.

Slow and conservative is the name of the game these days. Very minimal on page optimization and keyword inclusion (< 2-3%). Steady link velocity. Social signals galore. Extremely conservative anchor text ratios. Backlinks from high authority sources.

Boy, you've been gone a long while!

    In 2014:

    1. Content syndication > mass article directory marketing.
    2. Content should be reader-focused, NOT Google-focused.
    3. Social signals are important.
    4. Branding is everything.
    5. CPA marketing is pretty big, I've heard tell.
    6. Money is hard to come by (just like in 2013).
    7. There are a million scammers out there trying to sell you "get rich quick" products (a lot of 'em are WarriorForum members).
    8. Conversion rate optimization should be a priority.

    Good luck!

  • I think Rae Hoffman summed it up better. The article she wrote about the changes in marketing is pretty long but the gist is
    1. Google’s primary concern is not “the web” or “you” – it’s Google
    2. Penguin is not always fair – Google knows it but… see #1
    3. Panda is not always fair – Google knows it but… see #1
    4. Google talks the talk, but does not walk the walk and there’s nothing we can do about it
    5. “Creating good content” guarantees you JACK SHIT when it comes to ranking
    6. SEO is as alive now as it was a decade ago
    7. SEO has evolved to become the result of an actual marketing strategy versus marketing tactics
    8. Your pony is dead

Steam behind DreamWhipper.com... thanks for the comment. Yeah, doing what I know. So far PR distributions only get SEO spams. FB ads work but two expensive. Spent $15 and got 2 subscribers. Perhaps it can be tweaked but I am pausing the campaign so far. I looked into guest blogging but most of the good places on takes in people with some writing track records.

Hmm... anybody got a place for guest blogging for a "nobody", in the goal setting niche?
