What could you do with category A health journalists?

Did a little bit of blind networking this evening and ended up spending 4+ hours in the company of a health journalist who has a great reputation and writes for wide range of health publications on a weekly basis.

The journalist has a friend of a similar standing and they are looking for a mutual venture to undertake. Note both of these writers have health journalism work histories spanning in excess of 10+ years including editor status of major printed health magazine and previous successful printed & kindle book publications.

As they both derive there entire incomes from health journalism they need to protect their brands. They are willing to put their professional names to the top quality content that they are able to create on a weekly basis and are equally willing downgrade the quality to increase the output but under a pen name.

They are interested in a joint venture and I am just mulling over ideas. I have an outline below of a few I have in mind, in no order, I just want to see if I can pick a few brains to see if I am missing any tricks.

1. Books - physical & digital. This does not just relate to these writers but access to category A fitness related celebs they can ghost write for.

2. Membership site with teaser articles leading to monthly membership fees for a greater level of content.

3. Affiliate products within the site of which there are thousands to choose from; clothing, machines etc.

4. Online magazine where space can be sold to existing advertisers in the field which is part of what justifies the nominal monthly membership fee.

5. email / sms to opt ins for new product launches where we act as affiliates or simply as solo blasts for suitable products.

6. Banner ads on site for third party products.

7. The writers using their brand name association acting as impartial reviewers of products ranging from books to clothing to supplements to..... This would be as a higher end version of an Amazon affiliate type store which could be redone each quarter.

I have a few more that I need to think about a little more before I can put them down in writing but you get the idea.

What tricks have I missed on this as I am sure there are numerous more? Be grateful for your input.

consider also having them write PLR products with Master reseller rights on the condition of no modification to the product. Then you have links back to resources under your control throughout the guide.

Yes good call, will have to look into this further as PLR is not really my field.

Are there speciality outlets / avenues to explore for PLR products other than the obvious forum threads and own site route?

Finding journalists is OK, but what you need in this niche are health professionals (e.g. doctors) that can lend authority to your site.

Hummmm, surgeons freelancing as writers, rarer than hen's teeth me thinks!

I like the thinking and the pointer all the same. Thanks

If they are top rated health journalists I would consider Kindle publishing. You act as a publisher, designing and marketing (after brainstorming with them) a series of health related guides, like a "fast guide to" series, and have them come with one guide every 2 weeks.

This way you will have a branded collection that you can cross promote, you would have built an asset for you and your journalists partners, you would have built authority and credibility for yourself and your partners would love that kind extra branding for them...

... and then, only then, I would go into membership site ideas or other digital products related to that niche...

Cunning Chad, very cunning. Enhance the rep front end and launch the balance on the back of it. It will appeal to the writers too and they will see that they will then have something beneficial from the arrangement that will impact on their external efforts. Well thought out, I like your thinking
