If audacity knows *everyone* is gonna need whatever "LAME" does, why is LAME still a 3rd party item? Is it THAT proprietary that the audacity folks can't come up with their own version, so Audacity would be complete by itself?

The page that the official audacity site tells you to go to to download LAME looks totally amateurish, and not really trustworthy -- it's somehow connected with some guy who wants us to "give his music a chance!"

Also, why is it called "LAME?" Would seem not to be a good first choice for a name.
