How many affiliate marketers write blogs?

Recently, I've been searching to find forums that are specifically related to blogging. I haven't found much. Anyone know of a high-activity forum that caters to bloggers?

What percentage of affiliate marketers use a blog platform to market their products?

Would there be a big enough audience here at Warrior Forum? Would a new blogging subcategory make sense?

Thanks in advance,

AB

I don't know of any active forum for bloggers, but WF (even without the sub-cat of blogging), is generally good enough for me.

I am not sure on the exact figures, but I find my blog is an excellent platform for recommending affiliate products to my readers.

There are a lot of affiliates that use blogs to promote with. And there are a lot of affiliates that just promote from their blogs, when they should be list building and promoting from blogging and email marketing.

    Two sources for you are
Problogger: He has a forum for bloggers.
    ProBlogger.Community
And Harvey Segal has an affiliate blog forum:

Besides the articles I write for other people (which mainly seem to go onto blogs), all of my IM income comes from a handful of WordPress blogs. I'm relatively new to the game, but I'd guess a lot of people start out like this.

I'm an affiliate marketer and have been blogging for 3 years. Blogging is a powerful tool if you know what to do and how to do things. It's a great way to create high quality, long term traffic. Best thing about a blog, it's not only limited to affiliate marketers. Real Estate agents could use it, people with brick and mortar businesses can use it, restaurant owners can use it, etc. If done the right way, blogging will create traffic, more exposure, build a brand, generate leads and create more sales.

This. Affiliate marketing got a bit out of hand for a while there when all many people were doing was slapping up cheesy 'review' sites that provided zero content and biased reviews screaming 'buy me now' for whatever product.
But an actual blog, with relevant content, will attract quality traffic. And as mentioned above, it'll build a brand as well. Plus it can be used to build a list, all while creating value for the audience.

There are just so many affiliate review sites online, some focused on internet marketing, others geared more toward the health or weight loss niche.

The key to any good affiliate site is to use the product and get involved with it. If you use a product and think it's worth recommending to friends, then check out the site to see if they have an affiliate program. Don't just pick products at random and then stick up flimsy reviews with an affiliate link hoping for a sale. That won't result in any money being earned.

i blog but more-so to build a community of like minded people. I'm not really thinking of monetizing any time soon but I can see it being a good money earner if I continue with it.

As Romeo90 says, this Forum is big enough to satisfy the needs of anyone who wants a forum for bloggers.

The main point about using a blog in your affiliate marketing is that it should be seen to add value, and not just be there to sell.

One of the best ways to do this is to have product reviews on your blog, and these should be, as far as possible, unbiased. Of course your objective is to drive sales of your affiliate products, but you won't get many sales if you're just a mouthpiece for the sales page.

Your job is to pre-sell - to prepare the reader for reading the sales page, where the real sales patter will be. If you give a fair and independent review, pointing out any shortfalls in the product and suggesting how they may be dealt with, then more people will be impressed enough to click through to the merchant's page and then the buy button.

It's important, too, to have a few pages that aren't reviews or related to selling in any way. For example, some "how-to" articles, or even one or two humorous pieces. This will also help increase the relevance and credibility of your blog in the eyes of the great Google.

Don't damage your own credibility and trust between you and your blog reader by recommeding a substandard product. If you can, use the product first so you know if it's worth the money being asked. If you can't buy the product, then at least give an honest review of the product benefits along with your recommendations as to why you think the product would help your reader.

I think if you turned your question around, you'd find your answer.

How many bloggers promote affiliate products? Now that's a much better question.

Build your blog to server a community, entertain, or educate, then monetize with affiliate products that fill your readers needs or desires.

My blog does well for getting customers. Had it for about 1-2 years now. I write for it everyday though, and i promote it to my list.
