Is anyone actually making $1 per month per subscriber?

I know a lot of people talk about how the goal should be to earn $1 per month per subscriber on your list, but I was just curious if anyone is actually doing that?

It's easy to do, just remove everyone that never open / purchase anything that you promote... :p

my average is a little less than that. $0.84 a month per subscriber.

I'm not sure if that statistic seriously matters once you pull past that 100,000+ subscriber point. You might be leaving money on the table if let's say you only get like 40 - 50 cents per subscriber. That's still $50,000ish a month.

Overall, however, I think that $1 mentality or whatever is a nonsensical goal. Even if i only made a 25 cents per subscriber each month, as long as I have a relationship with my list and they like my stuff that's where the gold comes in (that wonderful warm feeling that I'm actually helping them rather than milking them for all their worth).

I don't like treating my subs as mere dollar figures since I know I was once a guy that opted into a zillion lists and got bombarded by the emails.

Just nurture the relationship you have with your list and who knows...you may even blast past that $1 or whatever and see $5 - 10 dollar values/per sub. Just let that be a side effect of being good marketer rather than the primary goal.

Got a small list that is doing $3 per sub

After deleting those who don't open the first and second email though

Would you recommend doing that for people just starting out with their list though? Is there a number of subscribers where you would want to be before you would start deleting people from your list? For example, if you only had 200 - 300 subs, would you start deleting people that early?

I know the value is in a "responsive" list but I know it is definitely hard to start deleting people when you are just starting out.

Your list can be worth whatever you treat like. Frank Kern treats his lists like gold. In one of his list building training videos he mentions a list he has of 7000 subscribers that hasn't had any new opt ins in years. He maintains that list, losing very little leads and he mentions that there were a couple years he made 1 million dollars with just that list alone.

I don't remember the specifics, but I think there 2 times he had $1 million products from that list. It's all because they trust him and are willing to spend their money

Depends on what you sell I think. If you offer $2000 courses or coaching, it shouldn't be a problem to average $1 per subscriber. (that's one sale per 2000 subscribers!) If you sell $10 ebooks/WSO type of products, it might be more difficult.

The key is trust, and if your list trusts you and looks forward to your emails, you will make money for sure. I've been on Frank Kern's list for 9 years, so I have no doubt that he averages way more than $1 per subscriber.

Sure, you can make a whole lot more than $1/subscriber per month if you offer some higher ticket stuff you make yourself.

Too many marketers fall into what I call the "WSO price drag." Just because you might sell a WSO here for $7-$17 doesn't mean you can't sell those people MUCH higher priced stuff once they're on your list.

A couple of days ago I had a high 4-figures day from a list I built that is composed of 100% WSO buyers of products I've run here that were all under $20.

You can go for quantity and build a huge list and hit them with nothing but affiliate offers. You'll do ok if you don't wear them out with offer emails every day or two. As long as you replace the unsubs, you'll do fine.

I prefer the quality model myself. My IM list is actually pretty small, but those people will buy high ticket offers because they know I won't steer them wrong.

    Different strokes for different folks.

I honestly do not get the list cleaning.... I literally have had people on my lists that didn't buy anything in years all of the sudden buy something.

Seriously my #2 yearly largest expense for my online business is e-mail list management. At this point even if I did drop 500 names off my list, its not going to save me any money, so I say why bother.

I will tell you the best thing I have ever done is combine my lists into segments, instead of having individual lists. It ended up being like a 50% savings over all. HUGE

Thanks for the replies guys. I have a decent amount of money saved up to start building my list, the only problem is I don't want to spend that money yet until I have a decent sales funnel/follow up sequence that can actually make money and I have no idea where to start with that.

Anyone have any good course recommendations?

I kicked the tires on virtually all of the courses around here, and bought half of them. I found this one to be head and shoulders above all those I purchased:
