Where to put my disclaimer in my ebook?

Do I put it on the front of my ebook?

I was thinking perhaps before somebody makes a purchase, I put a tick box where they say they have agreed to the T&C before buying, and put the actual disclaimer on my website.

Then on my ebook something like "You have accepted our terms and conditions. For details please go to www.example.com/terms

In all my e-books, I place the disclaimer on a page right after the title page.

Unless you've left something out, this process is begging for trouble.

At best, trying to click-wrap T&C acceptance before providing the link is going to turn people off and make them wonder what you're hiding. At worst, it will get you in trouble with your payment processor, affiliate manager, and possibly one or more governments.

I'm with Kevin - my disclaimers never run more than 100-150 words, and I put them right after the title page.

By the way, what are you trying to hide...?

I do it on the second page.

You generally put in on the first page before any index or in the footer up on the last page. Generally you want people to see the disclaimer if they can only view the first pages before they buy it.
Take a look at this for an example: (I formatted this book for print, and e-readers)

I recommend placing it on the second page after the title page and before the content

I usually see them right after the Title Page. So I guess that's how it should be.

In most cases, I see a lot of ebook owners who have a disclaimer on the first page of their ebook.

You can also have it on 3-4 parts of the ebook so that your readers are consistently reminded of it.

As to the law, the following applies to almost all Federal and State laws about disclaimers, disclosures and privacy policies:

That the wording posted is in a “clear and conspicuous," spot, without defining exactly where that spot is.

The common definition provided by most state and federal agencies is the language in the body of a document is “conspicuous” if it is in a larger or other contrasting type or color font." At a minimum, it must be at least the same size font as the surrounding text. And there should be the likelihood the average person would see the disclaimer, disclosure or privacy policy by itself or as part of a document.

Just as important is where did you get your disclaimer? A poorly drafted disclaimer may provide little or no protection, no matter where you place it.

    Good luck with your book!

Don't really know the legal stuff.

But on 99% of ebooks i've read it's on the second page (just after the title)

I also do the same thing.

    Cheers,
