For you folks out there that actually uses Artisteer... can you REALLY create wordpress blogs with the software? Of is it used to "modify" templates?

Just curious if you can actually create a temple from scratch, and if its soem sort of WYSIWYG app.

Thanks in advance.

Damm... those are some pretty good sites you've created Sue. And you created those from scratch with the app?

I'll need to check Artisteer out! I greatly appreciate it.

      Thanks!

Wow, very nice indeed, I'm impressed. Never thought of the Artisteer websites as being that good. I think your choices of headers and photos go a long way towards that though.

I love Artisteer. I've been creating sites for clients using it, and so far, they've been happy.

Here's a WP one: Organization Renewal - Assisting Organizations, Leaders and Teams to achieve their full potential

and an HTML one: Derek Rowley, Mortgage Agent | Invis Canada's Mortgage Experts | Aylmer, Elgin & Oxford Counties

One of the best software purchases I've made in a while.

I just downloaded Artisteer last night and I've bene playing with it off and on since then. They allow a free download of the complete software but when you use the free version, it leaves a watermark on the page that says "Trial" over and over and over across the page. When you buy the software they give you a code that will remove the watermark.

I've had several problems with stability, but these usually are occuring when I try to use some of the odd fonts that I've picked up. Most of the time, the software is fairly stable.

Now, here's the skinny on your question. Artisteer comes with a lot of separate components, different menus, headers, footers, etc. Basically you start by pressing a button that offers a suggested layout. Artisteer puts the parts together and shows you a proposed page. If you don't like that one, you press for another. Once you've gotten something that you can live with, you begin to manipulate it.

Artisteer allows you to import photos and fonts for your header and to manipulate those photos to a certain extent. You can also change the shape and location of the menu, and the buttons and other elements of the page. I haven't found anything that I can't manipulate at least to some extent.

Artisteer does not support "drag-and-drop" as near as I can tell, so everything you do has to go through the tool bars at the top of the page. That part is a wee bit frustrating to anyone who has worked with photo editing software that allows elements to be picked up and shifted via the mouse.

From what I can tell so far, if all you want is to quickly come up with a basic blog layout that is reasonably original, Artisteer will do it. It is not a miracile cure, but it's a far sight better and faster than I could do it by hand.

...And no, I'm not affiliated with Artisteer.

I've been using Artisteer since beta and I'm a great fan. I have used it to create all the WordPress themes in my sig (except one) and it works like a dream.

I have found that it pays to experiment and practice. If you are using the software for the first time, try it out on a domain that doesn't matter so that you can explore what it can do. When you twiddle and tweak a bit you can achieve some unexpected effects and this can make your blog look really great.

After a certain amount of time you begin to get the hang of it and it becomes real fun creating a unique WordPress theme
