For those of you in IM niche list building

How much do you pay per lead into your list on average?

I'm just starting out building my IM list and was curious to hear some figures from other warriors

Nothing. In fact, I get paid to add people to my list because if you sell your own stuff to build your list, it's the best of both worlds.

But if you don't have your own product or service to sell, you should look into buying solo ads and setting up a simple sales funnel to help defray the cost:

Free sign-up offer > OTO > Another upsell or a downsell (optional)

Honestly, the quality won't be as high because ideally you want a list composed 100% of people who have bought from you, but it can be a fast way to build a list in lieu of that.

Just be sure you start small and test your funnel before you drop hundreds on a big campaign. There are some good solo ad providers right here on the forum. I would look to pay no more than about $40 per 100 clicks (visitors). Only buy from someone with lots of good feedback. And make sure you use a URL in your ad that tracks clicks so you can independently verify the numbers.

If you are asking which email marketing service i am using, its GetResponse. Its $15 per month for 1000 subscribers (which makes it $0.015) for every subscriber.

    Well it depends...

My free traffic sources cost me zero per lead which means 100% profit..

When I create $7 offers get paid to build my list (buyers list)

When I pay for traffic My goal is usually under $1 per lead which I am happy with since my value per lead is really high, and so is my life time customer value.

The cost per lead doesn't really matter all that much, it's the customer aquisistion value that you should be focusing on.

Back in 2002 I used co-registration to get 1,000 subscribers. I think it costed me a little over $600.00. After that I did ad swaps and in March of 2004 I was the second person to do a giveaway.

Mark Hendricks beat me to the punch with his 12 Days of Christmas. Mine was called Instant Success Sweepstakes. I was a little different from what Mark did.

In the beginning is the only time that I would buy leads because it now gives you the ability to do joint ventures.

I figured out very early on that the best place to find subscribers was to go to where they hang out. That was on other people's lists. So I did all kinds of joint ventures to build my lists.

So the very beginning was the only time I have ever paid for subscribers.

I never bought solo ads but other people bought solos from me until I discovered that I could make more money promoting other peoples products and my own products. Now I no longer sell any kind of ads to my lists.

    Best regards,
    Steve Yakim

My Solo prices per lead vary between $.33 - $.57 depending on the provider and their cost.

Even though there is a lot of Safelist bashing in the forums, I consistently get about 18 - 22 new (responsive) subscribers per day through Safelist emails. I had always thought they were junk traffic until I started using Safelist Genie to really get the numbers up. Granted, I send out about 700,000 emails per day across all the safelists that I am a member of, but the results are very good.

Wow that's some very cheap leads you are getting, if the quality of those leads are good you could really scale that up

perhaps you could send me some good solo ad providers?

My list is entirely made up of buyers. So, I get paid for them to be on my list. Also, I know they're at least able to buy stuff, and willing to!

There is no accurate Number. It depends on the sources but the ultimate question is NOT how much you pay per lead but how much you can MAKE per lead

True, the funnel I'm currently in seems to bring in on average 50k/year on 20/leads per day, according to the other affiliates with the same funnel

So even at $2 a lead that's a big ROI

Well you should buy a solo ad and test it for yourself..To see if it converts for you the same it converts for other affiliates

You can get away with a pretty lousy converting squeeze page with solo ads if your paid offers in the funnel are outstanding. I see people here all the time talking about how you "must" have a 40% or better converting squeeze page. Sure, that's nice and all, but I'll take 20% every time if I can convert a high % of those subscribers with the paid offers.

It's a myth that your front end conversion rate is what matters most, in other words.

It depends where I get my leads from. Right now, I'm at about $1.50 per lead.
