Anyone considering the new .GURU domains?

If you using .Guru TLD for your SEO then I don't think so that there is a problem in your internet marketing. The main thing is what you're providing from these kind of TLD's. I have also interested in this new domains let's see what Google and other Search engine effects on these.

Domains names don't affect our internet marketing activities. Whether you have TLDs like .com, .net, .org or other low level domains such as .mobi, .info, it mainly depends upon what you are delivering to people.

I agree with Alex and other guys here... I don't really see any need to go for .guru domains when .com domains still work pretty good and are even better in many ways...

Thanks for the responses guys. I suspected that might the viewpoint here.
I just got a little excited when I saw some very nice one or two word domains still available. (E.g. productlaunch.guru)

But I have had buyer's remorse in the past over domain fads...

Google changed it's algo some time ago to remove the artificial advantage that EMDs used to have, so there's no SEO advantage. Waste of money, IMO. The only ones who benefit from these stupid tlds are the domain registrars selling them.

I only think .guru works for one worded strong domain names.. such as travel, auto, finance, cloud, app etc etc.. all of the decent premium names are gone long before.
Your better off with a .com imo there more well know and cheaper

TLD name has little to no affect on an SEO point of view. Although saying that, local SEO I think has benefits, for example, a .co.uk for a UK company would seem logical.

The .guru domain names have zero appeal to me. I am still able to find plenty of great domain names ending in .com, .net, .org, .tv, and .info.

Please, don't get them because it's getting harder to find good names...

Just grabbed NewAge.Guru (dyandot charged me $10 more for this one - they haver reserved some names as premium and charge $10 more for them - but still looks like a deal). Will have some fun on Flippa soon.

Btw: The extension is fantastic to brand projects that not necessarily need to have a "guru" (person) behind.

2 Examples:

KeywordResearch.guru can represent a friendly keyword research software / platform.
The same with TravelPlanning.guru (can have a travel search platfom)

And so on.

The people who buy these new extensions are going to be a few years ahead of the curve. I see nothing wrong with it, though you should go into it expecting to spend some resources educating your followers for a while.

There are a relative few natural domains for most of these new extensions, but over time I think we will see growing acceptance for the ones that catch on with the public, and with that a growing vocabulary of domains that make sense.

There are some good ones still available, but at $40 per year, it's not as cheap as regular domain, so am a bit hesitant on speculating.

From what I've seen around the web, there are mixed feelings on how effective these will be. And no definitive view on how they might work in SEO terms. Plus there are hundreds of others being released in the coming months/years.

i think if you offering a membership site you can use or if the entire AM community could decide to use specifically for product courses. It makes more sense to use the domain as a means for a domain for a product you created this way it distinguishes its self as a single course developed by somone who knows what their talking about.

I would just use it as product course extension instead of the .Com. Dot com is more larger commercial, you can guru to be more commercially targeted.

.guru is just a way of making money for someone!

In IM circles, "guru" is mainly a negative term, so I wouldn't want to have that anyway.

Got to be honest, I think this whole new wave of TLDs is nonsense. It's .com or nothing for me.

I think it's simply a move to push the profits of the name registrars out there by using scarcity tactics above the rarity of decent .com domains and so on.

I'm not sure that's the case now though with Google frowning upon (according to some) EMDs.

The .guru domain does sound a bit pretentious to me, and I would avoid it for internet market, as the word "guru" has developed some negative connotations as of late. However, it might be an ideal extension for someone outside of the IM realm when used for for other purposes such as branding, training courses, marketing of real gurus (say those from India), and so forth.
