I have a website with that generates leads for capret sales and installations. I get about 15-20 leads a month currently and want to start selling these leads.

What is the best way to approach a company to sell leads?

Do you sell them the lead, or give them the leads and take a % of the final sale?

If I sell the leads what is a good asking price?

If it were me I'd approach the companies in person. Have your smartphone handy so you can back up the claims of the targeted leads your site generates.

Whether you prefer to sell just the leads or work on a commission structure for generated sales is up to you. But if it were me, I'd be looking at a commission on sales generated. You could easily get low-balled on just selling the leads alone because its tough to put a dollar value on what a lead is worth in that industry.

Further, in that industry projects can get pretty pricey quite quickly, so what may look like a $500 job turns out being a $2000 job, and that looks good when you're on commission.

Best of luck, sounds like you're on to something here!

I'd never work on a % cut as your leads may be great but the company may have lousy closers. I'd suggest you give them a few free leads. Find out what the average job brings in and charge a flat fee per leads based on that. Oh and I'd get it upfront too.
