How to copy my website?

Hi all,

I am looking to copy my website completely in order to set up a new domain name targeting a different country. I will delete all posts and replace them with new ones but I wanted to know if there was a quick way to completely copy my website and install it on a new domain name so I can then start to change it.

Also I have just had someone correct a coding issue on my website therefore if I created a new site from scratch it would lead to issues again.....

thanks

Is the site HTML/Php? Is it Wordpress?

If it's an HTML site, what is to stop your from simply copying all the files and then placing them exactly where you need them inside the root of the new domain?

Is your site Wordpress CMS? If so, you obviously have the added hassle of transferring your data-base over as well.

If you need help with a Wordpress site, I can give you more pointers if you need them.

        Hi,

I just want to make sure I understand exactly what you'd like to do. Are you simply looking to transfer your site to a different domain on the same hosting account, or do you want to move the site to entirely different hosting, and set it up on a new domain with a new host?

If you want to move everything to a completely different host, and setup your domain on there, then Flippa (the website auction marketplace) offers an excellent guide that shows you how to do this.

You can find there guide for transferring a WordPress blog here:

        I hope this helps!

I am trying to copy the existing website to a new domain on the same hosting account while keeping the original website. Then I will have 2 websites the same with 2 different domains. Then I plan to change the 2nd one to suit the country I am targetting

I would talk to your hosting provider about this. I know that they can clone a cpanel and transfer it over. You could also back up the wordpress site and then restore it.

That doesn't matter. You still need to back up all the files and database for transfer.

You can use free plugins that do this.
