eBay users, could I ask some basic help?

Hi guys,

I'm new to eBay and have 2 basic questions which I'd like to ask.

1) I've posted a product in eBay's "Classified Ads" section. It has a $9.95 fee. However, I went through all the listing process but they didn't ask for my credit card number. Now my item was listed.

I remembered that I connected my eBay with my Paypal account. So could they have taken the money from Paypal? But when I checked Paypal, no money was deducted. So I'm just curious where my payment for the fee came from.

2) When I posted my item and searched for my keyword in the search results, my item was already in the list. But after I made a few revisions and posted it again, my item was gone from the search results.

Does it really take a long time before the item I revised would be back in the eBay search results?

Thanks for the help,
Michael

Takes a wee while from the time you create your listing,
till the time it shows in the search results buddy

      Good luck!

eBay rocks... (if you make more profit than your fees )

    1. eBay requires no upfront payment, they add the fees to your account and invoice you each month.

    2. Normally a revised listing will show up within minutes but sometimes it can take a bit longer.

    Cheers,
    Danny.

    Thanks for the feedback, guys.

    1) Is the monthly invoice sent through mail or is it digital? Can I pay that invoice through deduction from my Paypal balance?

    2) The strange thing is that my product was listed in the search results within 2 minutes after the initial posting. But after I revised it, it's gone now in the search results for around 8 hours already!

eBay will take payment from a credit card you were required to put on file when joining or PayPal. My fees always come from the credit card. As for changes to a listing, I've seen them take anywhere from two minutes to 24 hours to post. Don't know why...

    Hi Michael

Monthly invoices are sent via email notification each month and these typical are around the 1st or the 15th day of each month. If you have only registered your credit/debit car details then ebay will deduct the monthly invoice amount from. But if you have linked your paypal account to your account, then they will deduct the invoice amount from there instead.

Now, you may also want to check your account summary and see if you have enabled the settings for eBay to deduct your monthly invoice amount from either credit/debit card or just from paypal.

Additionally in the UK, eBay sellers have the option of having the payment deducted direct from their bank account via Direct Debit.

As for listing and how long it is upload - travlinguy is spot on about the timings - as you have to bear in mind that at any given moment in time, they are thousands/millions of ebay members all uploading their items for sale at the same time so as for revising an item, it is not surprising that they will be delays unfortuantely.

I think it is because eBay give priority to new listing first and then when it comes to revising, it takes it's time becuase your item has already been given priority once when it was first uploaded. I wouldn't be too worried or fussed about it.

Additionally if you are thinking about going mainstream and full time with eBay, then I suggest you download their listing tool called Turbo Lister as it's much more convenient that using the online listing tool, and you can setup all the item you want to sell and then at the press of the upload button, have then all uploaded in a batch.

    Anyway best wishes

I was thinking of selling on eBay, but I heard the fees are crazy right now. Is that true?
