Build another blog to drive traffic to your main blog. Isn't that Stupid?

Hello Guys!

I've read Countless time that a technique to drive traffic to my blog or website is to build more blogs and websites.

I was having problem to get traffic to my main website and now I have to worry about the traffic to the other sites too!?!?!?

Please, don't tell me it is "because of the PageRank" because, although, yes, I could have more links pointing to my site, it is easier to blog comment and get backlinks.

What do you think about this "theory"

Cheers!

Chewie.

How often are you blogging & at least pinging?

Have you ever heard of a blog farm?

Both are used by savvy marketers to generate loads of visitors.

    hello chewie49
you would not be worrying about traffic to any secondary blogs or websites. You would be giving your main blog an anchored link from your secondary website. If your secondary website has no monetization on it, and has related information, then the 'persona' of your secondary website can easily get blog comments approved as the blogger sees no monetization. After the next PR upgrade, your secondary blog will have some PR and therefore a link from it, inside related content, will be helpful to your main blog.

That could be done through setting up profiles at certain sites that share the demographics of your blog.

Say your blog had a focus on hairstyling...

You would search out other high trafficed sites that make use of profiles on thier sites. (think social networks, news media blogs...etc.)

Setup your profile, point to your site.

Incorporate your blogs rss feed into your profile for fresh content and exposure.

I think Angela Edwards is still offering her High PR backlinking program for 5 bucks a month. Well worth the effort for the small amount of coin she's asking.

Then the owner of that profile site decides you're a spammer using a list of high PR backlinks and BOOM! your link is gone.

But, if you link to an unmonetized 'personal blog' they won't think anything of it. You, in turn, pass this 'link juice' on to your monetized blog.

          Hummm...

If you were blantantly presenting yourself in every high pr site out there...that would be true. Evidually you would get caught and thrown out.

Staying within theme, I wouldn't see a problem and haven't experienced any on my end.

Most blogs are not monitized very well anyway. And I haven't seen but maybe a few that were over monitized. Your average wp blog just doesn't provide that much space. And the rss feed certainly doesn't accommendate much as a banner feed either.

As far as the owner of a site knowing what kind of list I'm holding...well...it must be time to update my spyware programs. Otherwise, how would they know?

You wouldn't blog about your blog. You would blog about that same topics that are on your other blog. Most blogs have links to other blogs that post related content. In your case, you'd own both. That's it. Nothing unethical or strange about that.

Chewie - no doubt people go overboard supporting secondary sites. Take it with a grain of salt when you read something - 1. the writer might not be an expert 2. Just because it's in black and white doesn't make it truth. 3. A lot of people selling info products know shit from shinola what they are talking about.

If it doesn't make sense cost/effeciency, time/efficiency -- stick to what does and forget what the latest e-book has to say about something. If I followed the advice I've seen in every ebook/article I wouldn't even be able to construct a coherent article any more let alone a website.

Oh gosh, the best quickest easiest way to get traffic from your blog is to target shit loads of long tail keywords man, Get ranked get traffic.

Also you can create multiple accounts and comment on your own blog. Just to get things going.

If you have a central blog that covers a wide
niche topic such as "Internet Marketing" it is
not easy to rank for individual keyword phrases
    such a "article marketing".

However, if you were to set up a network of
blogs each dedicated to one keyword phrase
and all of those blogs were to link to your main
    blog then..

    1. Each blog dedicated to a single phrase would
get a better ranking and would "feed" traffic to
    your main blog.

    2. Your main blog would benefit from the "link juice"
from all the blogs in the network.

See if you can find "Revenge of the Mininet" for a
    more detailed explanation.
