Giving 100% of my time to IM as a beginner

Hi guys!
I'm completely new to internet marketing. I already chose my niche and I have a site where I'm publishing some content. I've been reading a lot of information from different sources and following various case studies but I still feel pretty lost.
I would have to go back to my country soon, which means I will be unemployed. I don't want to go back to a 9-5 job so I want to use the opportunity to dedicate 100% of my time to my website. I have savings to live more than two years (without including PPC advertisement etc).
I would only need an steady income of $11/day to be able to make a living without using up my savings.
How long do you think it would take a beginner to achieve this goal?
Any advice or recommended tool, forum, etc I should look at?

Thank you in advance!

hi, I think monetizing your website could work. Make sure to build a list of subscribers. Depending on your niche, and content you could create a membership fee or sell how to guides depending on your field. Read ezine articles, and find some free webinars in your niche. I think you could make, well over $11/day. Good luck

Thank you for the feedback. I don't plan to have a membership fee (at least not any time soon). I was thinking about generating income from affiliate marketing and write an e-book to sell in my site.

I'll take a look at ezine articles. Thank you!

One thing to consider is how you are going to diversify your income in the IM space.

As there are many different models of an IM business, some may be more profitable than others at certain times.

You can diversify in may ways:[LIST]
Different niches (not necessarily different products in the same niche)
        Online vs offline
        Physical products and so on

So consider diversifying your income stream to better mitigate your risks.

Dedicating 100% of your time to your website is fine, focused action taking is what is needed to succeed in Internet Marketing. But there is the chance of the Site taking a long time before it becomes profitable or not making any money at all.
I would diversify a little bit at first and try to make some money on the 'services' side of IM, I don't know your skills but you could easily make $11 a day article writing and you would still have plenty of time to work on your site and the pressure would be off.

    Agree with Stevie above.

Also want to add that you'll make much better use of your time if you follow one specific plan all the way through.

You sound like you have your head on your shoulders so I'm assuming you'll be able to follow through with whatever you choose.

    Hi there,
I totally agree with Stevie as trying to find a way to make some immediate money online. Writing articles, creating videos or something like that. You can go to Fiverr and take a look at their gigs and see what people offer. See if there is anything there that you can do. That will give you some seed money while you are working on promoting your site. The $11.00 goal you need to make is easily achievable.

Thank you all for your valuable insights.

I would take a look at article writing. I'm a iOS developer so I'm planning on releasing my own apps so I can have an additional source of income. Maybe I will try working as a freelancer for the meantime.

My main objective right now is to be able to acquire the required skills to make this work. However, I know that it won't be possible if I barely have time to study and work on my site.

Being an app developer is an EXCELLENT skill. You can provide services for people looking to get apps created for them, you can make your own apps (as you said), and you can create a product teaching others how to create apps.

While participating in the discussions here so as to learn what you want to know about affiliate marketing or anything that's related to online businesses and making money online -- You could start getting prospect clients for your iOS development services. You can do this by setting a signature in your account here that points to your website where prospect clients can see your portfolio / list of completed iOS app development projects and your contact details (email / Skype / Twitter / Facebook / phone / mobile). If you don't have a website yet, then you can set up a Facebook page where you can post your portfolio and contact details, and link your signature here to that Facebook page...

Since you're targeting 11 USD per day or around $330 per month -- You could earn this by just completing one iOS development project for a client here (or from other Web forums, online communities and so on) per month, and that project won't most likely use up more than three 8-hour days of your time (including testing and debugging)...

You can also post an ad in the Warriors For Hire section here for your iOS development services, or in the marketplaces of other Web forums and online communities where your prospect clients hang out...

Selling services as well. If you can possibly provide a high ticket service - that is the way to go at first without much knowledge. Then you work on your site as well, monetize, etc.

You are right, I should offer my services in different blogs and websites. I didn't really think about that. I guess I was only thinking about monetizing my website through affiliate marketing.

$11 per day isn't difficult, but $330 per month is, especially if you want that to be recurring and come from just one site thats very new. I'd say don't keep all your eggs in the same basket.

Build a couple of small income streams and make them grow gradually. Sell services, build lists and promote affiliate products, create your own products and sell them....blah blah - the list goes on and on.

The bottom line - don't rely on a single site to feed you for the rest of your life.

        Hi Diego,

Like everyone above, I too agree that $11/day is very doable. There's literally thousands of ways to go about doing these though, some include putting in money, (paid advertisements, etc), some include organic, (fb pages, seo, etc). It really depends on how much time & money you have to spend on this.

At the start, since you're new and have a lot to learn, commit a good amount of time everyday to work on your IM business. After some time, you'll get a feel of what works and what doesn't and you can let your own experience guide you. It helps to be part of a community like warriorforum, posting your updates here but I personally thing paid forums are REALLY good for the mentorship-fee ratio.

You might get into a business such as host reseller, which would give you a residual income monthly, rather than simply relying on one off sales of internet marketing related products. Of course, many others are already in this niche and there's lots of competition, but if you have a source of waiting clients who are new to the internet or don't know another host source, then you might earn good money with this idea.

It may not be what you are looking for, but if you only need $11/day... Writing 4 Articles per day for iWriter and/or Textbroker would easily net you $12/day, while still giving you the time to work on other income sources.

I suggest this because it's free to get started, there's always work available, and even crappy articles are accepted by most of the people that shop there for content. The better your content, the faster you will get your $11/day.

Mateenyall -> Do you know any paid forum you recommend me to take a look at? I've heard good things about stackthatmoney.com

bob33229 -> I already have a 9-5, which most of the time turns into a 10-5 and sometimes even a 12-5. If I could find a part time job as a programmer I would take it, but a full time job, specially in Japan, consumes most of my time.

Samuel Adams -> That sounds like a great idea. I would have to build an audience first though.

Teravel -> It seems that article writing may be the way to go at the beginning. Thank you!

First of all, I know lots of people that want to be in your position.

You have enough savings to live off of for a year!

So that means you have lots of time to come up with something. You have two options in making money in this industry:

    Sell your own product

    or

    Sell someone else's product

Selling your own product can take up much time because you are building from the ground up. But selling someone's product cuts the learning curve and allows you to leverage their systems and save you time.

    Something to think about.

My 0.02 $. Do not leave a 9-5 job for a website. Devote two months hardcore into website development while you have not joined any job. See how things turn out. Chances are that you will make good money however equally probable is that you will fail. For example you have invested 2 years into it. You are making Ok income but less than your 9-5 job ? Will you regret your decision ? Will you face issues going into job market. Try doing both jobs and web development, you will take more time however your future will be secure. I know it's hard and needs sacrifice. You know what, success is hard too. You can quit your job when you are confident of your sites success. CEO of square space, shares how he managed doing both. Have to say but a lot of people on a Warrior Forum are not good at corporate jobs, so you are going to get biased advice.

You would be comfortable living off $11 a day? Which country you at?
$11 a day is very low amount to be aiming for if you are
    putting in 100% into IM

I went in head first as a beginner and have never had a proper job as non-IMers refer to it. If $11 a day is your target then wow... And fair play!

Personally, wouldn't be doing this for $11 an hour but hey ho.

$11/day? or did you mean $110/day? that's too small to live comfortably wherever you are in this planet. But if that's really your goal, you can earn that easily. Just learn how to market your site. There a lot from pros and since you are devoting 100% of your time, I believe you will achieve your goal in less than a month!

You'd be amazed by the amount of people who would love to make $11 a day... but will never do so. If this is what makes you comfortable, then shoot for this goal. Study up on traffic generation, and do email marketing like a champ. A good product is nothing without great marketing.

I have a place to live so I won't need to pay rent. Still, I'm not going to be able to live comfortably with $11/day. That's just what I need to be able to keep going without using up my savings. There's nobody who depends on me financially so I can cut my expenses as much as possible. I will have to make some sacrifices and refrain my self from traveling, etc. I wouldn't like to be the rest of my life earning just $11/day; it's just my first milestone. Once I reach it at least I know that my expenses are not greater than my income, and I would be able to continue working while being sure that I'm not running out of money.

$11 ..damn! i wish i could make it that easily. However i think its brave of you to go 100% into your IM business. But personally i wouldnt take a chance on my website if i wasnt sure that its
1: allready making me money, even just a cent per day. and
2: is it scalable?. - id make sure that the time i spent extra on my site, would be worth it. Or if there was a way to spend my time better, on something that could make those $11 more efficiently. like you said.. just need $11 dollars.. then get those comming in in any way you can..
    doesnt have to be pretty.
