Current Best Practice for Content Curation

I'd like to know the current best practices for content curation, and what's working for warriors.

I'm not going to mention names, however I was using one content curation tool for a while, but I've basically given up cos it just seems easier and more ontrollable if I do all the work myself - by which I mean; getting the alerts by email, checking out the page/post or story myself, then creating my content to point at it.

Anyways, I have a site that mostly features embedded videos and not much written content, it's picking up quite a lot of traffic.

I intend to use my manual content curation method and create a news section on the site in order to future-proof the site from any new Google updates.

My question is, what's the best format to use and what's getting you results nowadays.

    PeckhamPirate,

Google "content curation tool" and you'll find great info

Thanks for that, but I'm really looking for the on-page factors I need to use to create these manually.
Like I said, I've tried one of the top tools, but I think I prefer to manage the whole thing myself by adding new WP posts.

I don't want to add more than a few posts a week, so can easily schedule the whole thing.

All I wanted to really know is the on-page factors I need to get a little link juice flowing and avoid getting whalloped next time Google changes its algo.

But thanks a lot for your tip. Just did that and I've got me some interesting reading
