#1 priority is ensuring your content is amazing. That will be the key factor in turning passive visitors and readers into people who click to buy.

I've found that lengthy articles with honest feedback work well as they give substance to drop a lot of aff links in, yet a little more subtly. It also means you can properly review the software or product, instead of a 500 word regurgitated piece.

    Best of luck!

Yeah, well-written, relevant content is key. Play with the Google Keyword Planner to see what people are looking for, and figure out what they actually want so you can step in front of them like, "Hey, here's that info you were looking for. BTW, if you're looking for a good price..." instead of just, "Surprise! I managed to rank for this particular keyword!"

I also do a lot of articles related to my reviews, ideas for which you can also pull from the Keyword Planner. Even phrases like "How to do without (product name)" are useful, because they increase your views by people interested in the general topic at hand, and you can usually imply it'd be much more convenient if they spent a few bucks buying whatever you're promoting.

Longer articles and reviews are better not just because you can add more affiliate links, but also because various longtail keywords will just naturally show up in the writing without having to really think about them or try to cram them in. I actually have yet to do any link building or other SEO-type things for my sites, but I get traffic because the keywords are in there and I'm supplying content people are actually looking for.

Echo the amazing content sentiment. You need effective traffic sources. And to appear legit, simply personal reviews aren't enough. You want to source genuine feedback from real users of the product you're reviewing. That helps target buying traffic.

As with so many tactics in IM, just keep going. I wouldn't expect to rank well for anything out of the gate, so look at ways you can get your amazing content in front of the people that are looking for it in other ways (social media, forums, ads, etc.). And just keep going. Sometimes you nail a keyword right out of the gate and sales increase significantly; sometimes it takes months to see decent profits. Just plan for the long term, create quality content, start networking with others in your niche, and good luck!

You have to invest in building up credibility. Few people are going to care about your reviews-much less trust them-if you don't have credibility. You build credibility by HELPING people.

I think alot of what people said here is already great advice ... perhaps you could also try to build as much relationships an you can with influences in the overall niche and not your sub niche. By doing that, it'll not only help you gain more traffic, but also get you to the path of $100/month or more quicker.

thanks for the advice guys ill take it all in slowly. I have hired someone on Odesk currently to find me 15 keywords for my particular niche.

Next step will be to turn them keywords into blog posts, ideally using SEO (maybe ill outsource some of the work). The reviews will be done by myself.

After that I was going to outsource someone to create me 5-7 backlinks a day for 30days. Buy some Adwords off Google/Bing.

If you hired a cheap keyword guy don't expect they'll give you much useful keywords.

A lot of them have keyword tools but don't really know how to use them and rely on the fact that the people buying their services don't know much either.

Same goes for cheap SEO gigs, they tend to be the sort of people who have limited knowledge of SEO and will just spam your site with low quality links which won't help you.

As several others have already said, you really want to focus on quality when it comes to content. Give your visitors as much good detail as you can so that you can set yourself apart from your competition.

Also make sure to go good thorough keyword research. With a product review site, you'll be focusing on long-tail keywords (keyword phrases made up of three or four words. Use the Google Keyword tool to see ehich phrases people are searching for that are related to the items that you want to review.

Besides organic traffic, I really recommend bringing YouTube into the mix. You could do video reviews of products, and snap up additional search engine positions by doing some SEO on the videos (i.e. including keywords in your video titles, descriptions and tags).

Pinterest is another social platform that can bring good traffic to review sites. You can pin photos of the items from your site, and link them back to your descriptive articles.

      Good Luck!

      Dan

Write awesome content that your visitors will like. If you want to start a review sites, try to give your readers honest opinion. If you are trying to promote affiliate products, I would suggest you to promote only good products. It will make sure that your site will survive in the long run.

I agree with Dan and Tamal. Good quality content is what you should concentrate on first. It's all about value. You have to give in order to receive, and here it's giving good, valuable information about the products you're reviewing.

Keyword research is important, but that is something you can probably do yourself rather than outsourcing, where there's too much scope for misunderstandings between you and your outsourcer.

You have to find a few good keyword phrases that people looking for your reviewed products are typing into the search engines, but at the same time aren't subject to too much competition.

They should be searched for at least 1,000 times a month, and the number of competing pages should number no more than around 10,000, obviously the fewer the better.

Dan mentioned YouTube, and he's right. Video reviews will probably be the norm within the next couple of years, so learn how to make a good video review. Pinterest is also an up-and-coming way of promoting your pages via pinning the relevant images with back links attached.

This is great advice. You can focus on writing the reviews but to be really successful, you probably need to learn how to write great reviews and also do video reviews. Having both on your site or blog would also be really helpful, especially in the beginning. Great content with both written and video reviews is definitely the way to go. I suppose you could outsource the videos but I would recommend instead that you do it yourself because you need to learn it anyway.

Make your blog become an authority in your niche. That way, people will trust you more, you get more traffic, and more sales. Among some of the the things you can do to create an authority blog is by posting a list of resources that will help people in your niche, do content curation, and answering people who post questions at your blog.

    Great advice guys.

I bought a domain and did some SEO research which makes me think I can break into #1 on google.co.uk.

I will start writing content soon and see what happens, even if it fails I'll sure I will learn a lot.

I should of been a bit more clearer, I want to review a set amount of products and then leave my site to make money on its own. Prob about 10-15 pages of content, targeting good SEO. who knows what will happen. Will keep you posted.

There are a lot of people reviewing products out there. A lot of the reviews I read are just like sales letters for the product. If you are going to have an authority review site it needs to be honest. I have found fro my own experiance that people buy from honest reviews not one sided sales letters. Think sbout the perspective you will be writing the review from. Good luck

Like most people already mentioned here, focus on good quality content. With that said, you have to be a good writer. If you are like me and sucks on writing, I suggest outsourcing your articles. There are plnety of article writing company out there but you have to be careful and make sure they are unique articles.

In the Warriors for Hire section you can find excellent content writers. Choose one that promises awesome content. You can test them by ordering 1 article from the 3 most promising provider. Once you have the "winner", order at least 7-800 words reviews. If you have a big budget, order at least 40-50 articles, this way you may get a discount.

Then start adding these reviews to your site. At the first two weeks add one review each day, then you can slow down and add only 1-2 per week. Always check if your affiliate links are working!

Try to find products having at least 4 stars on Amazon, with a price tag of $50-$150. These are the products you can sell most easily. You don't need much SEO, but you need to create a good structure for your site.

E.g. if you have a men's watch review site, add the following pages: men's sports watches, men's fashion watches, skeleton watches for men, pocket watches for men, etc. Then you can add the reviews to that pages. I suggest you should use a wordpress blog with an elegant theme. Good luck with your site!

I had some success building Amazon Review sites. I bought a product from a warrior member that was pretty good. It was one product of many I've tried that actually produced results. Basically I bought a review Wordpress theme that is already laid out for doing reviews. All I really had to do was add my photos and my reviews. After that I had to do some SEO stuff like builing backlinks and different techniques but very newbie friendly. I had some pretty low competition key words but the search volume on them wasn't great either. After a few weeks maybe 6 weeks my webpage was on the first page of google for my keywords. Some of the things I did was buy backlinks from people on Fiverr. It's definitely doable. I think the thing is just get the website built and seriously if you buy a review theme template for wordpress and start from there it's not that difficult, and after that just take your time doing small SEO things to get the site ranked better on google. Use people on Fiverr to write your product reviews if you can't write, for $5 for a 500 word review is worth it. If you would like some guidance let me know I can help maybe a little bit.

Basically you need to sell big ticket items to make some money. Look at the low percentages that amazon pays. Still, the other problem is getting traffic to your pages. Best strategy is to do comparisons. Take two big camera companies. For example, nikon and canon. Which has the best cameras. OK so this creates controversy and brings the traffic in.

Creating credible reviews on your site is key to establishing trust with your site visitor. Is there any way to try out the products you will be reviewing first? If not, then maybe you could read reviews written by others to find out the good and bad points of the product and then compile a list of positive's and negatives into your blog review. That would differ from the typical overly promotional review which you will find on most sites.
