Blogger or Squidoo for niches.

If you want to test a niche out before having a dedicated domain and website, between these two - which would you consider to be the best platform for this: Squidoo or Blogger?

I would pick Blogger - I think it's easier to work with and Google likes Blogger. I've also had better results when I've build one of each for a particular niche.

Blogger is good as it has some SEO benefits (I read it from a mentor's ebook). And it allows you to add HTML codes easily unlike squidoo and make your blog more lively.

I've achieve some pretty quick and dirty rankings for wordpress blogs (1st) Page Rank 9
Squidoo lens are great and also hit google ranking pretty nicely (2nd)
rounding up my top picks would be hubpages, wetpaint and google knol

Those are some of the best authority sites that you can put a great site together
for FREE and achieve quick indexing and great ranking depending on the keyword
    of course.

The fastest method to test a keyword before putting all the work in your site is through PPC. That's of course if you're doing affiliate marketing. Then you only need
a domain name and forward your affiliate link to your domain and a couple bucks to throw at adwords or maybe adbrite. You can find out pretty quick if the keyword is worth your time or not.

    Cheers

    I would pick Squidoo because:
    1) you can test Amazon products without being an Associate
    2) you can use your own HTML code
    3) lenses often rank well in SERPs
    4) you can make your lens 'rich' by adding videos, polls, etc.

Of course, there's no reason why you couldn't use both.

Both- I do think Squidoo is easier to use, though.

Great feedback - how many squidoo articles do you think are needed to get a site started?

All those listed are very usable. If I was going to pick one though it would probably be Blogger. For no other reason than for me personally it is the one I can get setup and going the fastest so I can move on to the next item on the old to-do list.

Blogger is easier to use than squidoo, but they're very ficky about linking out, especially to give link juice to your own sites. You may get away with it for a long time, but as soon as you apply for Adsense on that blog you get flagged, reviewed by a human, and most probably closed down. I know, it happened to me...

Squidoo is not that difficult to get into and there are a lot of free lenses to help you learn how it works. But the great thing is that they encourage you to link out and sell stuff. You may not put more than 9 links to the same domain in one lens, but that does not apply to approved domains, such as Amazon - you can link out to amazon or other approved domains as many times as you like. If you're not an amazon associate, you can still use their amazon modules and share in the income, and you also get a share of the adsense income on the lens.

If you write about keywords with moderate competition, do your on-page SEO properly, and add a few backlinks, you'll get to the first page of google in less than a month's time.

Split test with both and change up the content a little.
