How to Encourage Businesses

I'm trying to find a better way to encourage businesses to sign up with our website.
I tried email marketing, Linkedin etc. But havent tried cold calling?
Should this be the way I approach businesses?

If I cold call should I direct them to an email that explains more about my website and how it can benefit them?

Or If they have time should I go through the website with them explaining about it?

What do you think?

What is your website about? What services do you offer?
I think if you explain in detail, you will get good advices from fellow warriors.

I have tried cold-calling/e-mailing but this is really time-consuming and you don't get much leads to your website anyway (at least for me).

If you create great content and try to share it with those businesses (or businesses owners on appropriate social media websites), it should bring more traffic to your website. Just add an opt-in form in there and they should subscribe naturally.

    Just my 2 cents!

Sorry I thought posting websites on here would be marked as advertising as on other forums.
My website is Catholic Parish Networks

A voluntary effort to help people connect on a personal level rather than communicating over a website. (i.e. variety of life issues, subjects and interests like family, work, jobs & business, leisure)

Everything is completely free except the ability to post a business listing which is $20-35.

    explains more about it.
    Thanks for your help

  • I think what you need to do is take a good look at your website
what type of businesses that you are trying to attract and
what you are going to offer these businesses in return
    for going to your website.
What problem are you going to solve for them?
Why should they look at your website?
How are you going to save them money?
How is your website going to make them Money?
    Then target you traffic accordingly

Thanks, I know who my target group is, I just want to know what the best way is to approach them over the phone. What worked for you and what hasnt?

ex. showing them your website, getting into detail, or a short description and send them an email explaining about it in depth etc.

I personally hate cold-calls. Its time consuming for both parts and they might not get interested.
PPC is way better. Target ids from people from your niche.

Cold calling is brutal. Any way to set up a simple squeeze page, offering relevant info on your cause for an email opt-in? Once you get some folks signing up, you can target them more directly.

Cold calling is a brutal way to go but sometimes it can prove to be the most effective. And you don't even have to do the cold calling yourself, you could outsource it to a VA or look on elance and find companies that would do customer service duties for you to acquire customers. I have a friend that went that route when he was trying to get clients for his janitorial business and it worked.

    Something you could consider.

You may need to provide them with a script of something like that so they know what to say when they prospect for you.
