Squeeze Page - Video or not?

Hey Folks,

I am about to plan a new product and was thinking of the squeeze page for my potential leads. I'd have the opportunity to get a good video explaining the product (thought of 90sec maximum) with great shots (Islands, Singapore, Beach, Bangkok, etc.). Do you think a video is doing a good job or should I better get a squeeze page with great design and no video the site is built around?

Cheers

BK

Keep it congruent - if it's leading on to something else that will also be in video, definitely do it.

If it's leading on to a written report, your prospects will have to change their mental state before they read the report.

    And, of course, test!

This is a great opportunity for split testing. I'd start with a video that covers what you have on a printed opt in page. Of course what you are offering to opt in is also a factor. Are you giving them a video presentation or a written report. It helps to be somewhat consistent with your media. Having said that you can "say too much" at opt in time so be careful with the video and don't go rambling on. My very best opt in pages right now are very simple with one headline and an opt-in button.

Simple certainly can be much better. I use clean and basic, static squeeze pages that yield great opt-in rates. Soothing pictures and engaging headlines that are congruent to the offer have always served me well.

I think video, if it can convey a very powerful and compelling message, is best.

Of course you need to split test to know for sure.

Split testing is always the way forward. I think these things are very much up to personal choice. For example I don't like video in squeeze pages I go to, I find it annoying and especially those videos that you can't fast forward and can't see how long it goes for.

I've known/seen videos with the actual marketer in them to do very well. Adds an element of personal connectivity with the buyer instead of simply using a beach and yachts or whatever to convey a feeling of luxury and wealth (90's infomercials anyone? lol)

Seriously speaking most of the better marketers i know recommend using either your picture or if you're going to use video to have you in the video somehow.

    Hi BK,

A video is always more attractive than just bulks of long texts, so I think that your main focus should be about split testing between several videos and not about the question whether or not a video is necessary.

We love to test different types of videos and see what converts better (it can change according to your targeted audience), for example:

A "real person" video (to create engagement, show the company's staff, CEO etc.)

A scribed video that explains the product in a nice humorist way that attracts people to see the whole video.

An overview of the product - benefits + how to use

By the way, one of the best tools for monetizing your videos is Wistia.com service.

You can get statistics about the video, how many have watched it, at what point they lost interest and more great features. Highly recommended!

    Good luck with your product!

Thanks for all the great answers, wow

Well, I am trying to convince them for a sign up and I will do my best, I've already profound experience in video cutting - should work. I also hate non skipeable videos that run for ages, I'll make it 90secs and you can handle it like a normal YouTube video, that is important for me.

Videos on squeeze pages work extremely well. Plus, you said you made a 90sec video which is perfect. Should really double your opt-in rate for sure. All you need is a good attention grabbing header and a opt-in form. Your copy on your squeeze page is important. I would take the most time with your copy...

Yes, I also think video will definitely improve the opt-in rate. I like the idea of a 90 second video. I personally think long videos are a waste because I don't feel most of your traffic will stay on the page long enough to view the entire video. A 90 second video sounds about right.

And, as almost everyone else has said, split testing with a squeeze page without the video will definitely be very helpful. Be sure to keep us updated and Good Luck!

Hi, i don't know much about good squeeze page layout but today i received an offer from the DotComSecretsLabs, they're giving away their books of "108 Proven Split Test Winners". Suitable for anyone that wants to split test website/squeeze page/salespage. You only pay for the shipping fee of $9.95 (ships worldwide) but i think it's worth it because it's a book, not an ebook.

FYI, i'm not their affiliate and the link to their free book can be found at : https://dotcomsecretslabs.com

I would create a squeeze page that is responsive. (many users are mobile now.)

And then redirect them to a video pitch page or send the video link by email.

I can show you some examples of this online.

Test and see. This is your ultimate answer. I personally like a static squeeze page with words and text... not video. But i'm not 99% of the people on this planet. Test and see.

    Do a simple A B split test.
Sometimes a simple text squeeze page works better then a video.
It all depends on how your target market responds.

So have one squeeze page with plain text and a nice background, and another with your video. Direct some traffic to them equally and see which one converts better.

In one of my campaigns, a plain text squeeze page converted at 38% compared to a whiteboard video converted at 26%

    Statistics don't lie.

    Best of luck

Both of them work but i say definitely video... go for it! A very well done video will boost your response rates on lead generation especially if its "breathtaking" or "epic".

With my personal experience i have seen that videos really help in better conversions

But i always have a text version along in bottom of video, so if someone wants to skip video he can easily read the stuff below

I have read that people want to know who they are dealing with and that's why it is better to have a video, not only text at your squeeze page. And this is proven to increase conversion rates. Like some of the warriors said it is best to make split test with different video squeeze pages, not between video page and without video page.
The other reason is that most of the people are sick of reading texts and the third reason is that Youtube is growing everyday.

      Wish you happiness,
      Bo

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then just imagine how much more a video would be worth for your marketing efforts.

Just be sure to get the highest quality video you can afford and don't forget to include a closing line which encourages your potential subscriber to sign up/buy/opt in or whatever it is you want them to do. This should be in the video and on your page. Don't just put up a video with opt in form beneath. Make an association between what's on the video and the need to sign up to benefit more.

From 90 sec video you have only 1st 10 to 15 sec in your hand to Grab your visitor's mind ,
if your video is not able to do that then its of no use.
Video convert only when its done perfectly , "Kick ass Script + Voice + animation + music+sound effect+ Call of action "

E.g A sales man can sell the product if he is Smart and know the product then he is able to convince people about hat, but if the sales man speaks alien language and dont know how to represent the product perfectly then he is not going to sell any thing .

If your goal is to get more and more people to subscribe to your newsletter, I would not add a video to that opt in page.

The video should come after they opt in.

Now, most people are not going to opt in and as soon as they leave, they are gone forever.

What you can do is to create a code on your site so that a page pops up once they hit the X button and want to leave your site. You will have one last chance to sell to them with that video.

There is a software out there that will allow you to do this. It is called Exit Splash.
