Creating Niche Tube Sites?

I'm sure this has been asked already but I couldn't find a complete answer so I started a new thread..

I want to create a niche tube site with embedded videos from youtube, etc. and monetize it with affiliate links in the (original, not copied) descriptions. What should I be concerned about if I do this? Youtube/adsense tos? copyright claims?

Any help is appreciated, I'm sure some of you are doing this already.

Edited to add:

Just went through Youtube TOS and found this:

5. General restrictions on use

5.1 Subject to your compliance with the Terms, YouTube hereby grants you permission to access and use the Service, subject to the following express conditions, and you agree that your failure to adhere to any of these conditions shall constitute a breach of these Terms on your part:
  1. you agree not to use the Service (including the YouTube Player) for any commercial use, including without limitation the following uses, unless you obtain YouTube’s prior written approval:
    1. the sale of access to the Service
    2. the sale of advertising, sponsorships or promotions placed on or within the Service, or Content;
    3. the sale of advertising, sponsorships or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.
Soo basically, if I read that correctly, unless I add sufficient value to each page, it's against their TOS?

Well, I'm not a lawyer but I guess you can do it without any problem. The concern is youtube is your main competitor on Google ranking as your embedded videos will not appear on google search, but youtube.

yes, I'm aware of that problem but I have a few ideas on that front. Is there anything else I should consider?

I don't think you have anything to be worried about as long as the person who uploaded the video has allowed it to be embedded. I've seen hundreds of sites do this and add their own commentary/opinion about the video.

As long as you do not copy the video's original description (I see many sites that even do this as well but I don't think it's ethical), or claim the video is your own work, then I don't think you are violating any TOS. However, I wouldn't rely on the word of anyone else when it comes to issues that could possible develop into a legal matter. Instead, you should go through YouTube's TOS with a fine toothed comb to make sure what you want to do is allowed.

There are even many TV shows that pull YouTube videos and add their own comedic spin on the video's content. It's basically simple content curation.

Another practice I would advise you to do is always credit the video's creator by leaving a link to the person's YouTube channel and a link to the video page on YouTube.

Most of the people who allow their videos to be embedded want people to do this so they can get more exposure for their videos. Another thing you might consider doing, while it will take longer, is to drop a PM to the video creator and ask them if they will allow you to put their video on your site.

That's great advice, thank you. I intend to put a disclosure on the site saying all rights belong to the owners, yadda yadda and a removal link as well for those people who don't want their videos on the site. I'm going to write original descriptions as well.

Are you aware of anything related to this in Adsense' tos?

The question is why would anyone want to visit your site instead of YouTube unless you have very focused niches with very focused customers. For example anyone looking for motivational videos then they can go to YouTube and just search motivational videos. Most people of YouTube are casual viewers like Facebook users ? You can also try other you tube like sites: dailymotion, Vimeo etc. If you can use some help, drop me a PM, maybe we can collaborate.

Yeah, it's a microniche with videos only related to a certain topic. As for why you'd go to my site instead of youtube is because you'd have to do a lot of searching on youtube to find exactly what you're looking for. (It's a topic I'm interested in and when I tried searching on youtube, it took a long time to find what I wanted)

Because a person links to their own pages and promotes their own pages through social marketing instead of sending traffic to youtube.

For example, you find a video of a funny dog that's gone viral. Instead of posting a link to the video on Youtube, in your Twitter and Facebook feeds, you add the video to a page on your own site and post that link instead.

As far as adding value to the page, PLR and ezinearticles are often a good resource for this.

Another reason is because the site owner watches and screens, then "curates" the best videos on a particular topic, saving viewers time and hassles.

I did a program just like this and people started posting just one liners.

        Google disabled their AdSense accounts.

For people who gave great value....

They get some AdSense income but the real monitization was through list building and social media.

Can anyone answer my question regarding the Youtube TOS? What does youtube consider "sufficient value" added to the page where I embed the video? I suppose an original video description is not enough.
