My traffic has dropped significantly around the around the 14th of February (or thats when I noticed it)

When I checked, my search visibility is non existant.

Did anyone experience the same? have been searching for answeres as to why, if there was a Google updatethat I didn't hear about?

Did anyone notice this for their sites and how can I recover?

I don't see any traffic drop on that day. But there is an update in Google algorithm on feb 6,2014 . Hope you can check Google Algorithm Change History - Moz frequently for these.

Thanks for that, and I just read.

But in my case, I didn't even have ads above the fold . . . so, how can I be hit when I did not have ads?

And I thought I would have some indication from webmaster tools, and the only thing I can see is that impressions have dropped.

If you are only relying on Google for SEO you are walking a precarious path. I won't say you can't do it because some people smarter than me are supposedly still doing it but I would say its time to start diversifying your traffic sources.

      That is great advice.

You can never rely on one traffic source to get you traffic for life.

It is always a good idea to have multiple streams of traffic.

Yea true . . . I am trying to diversify the traffic but in my opinion nothing beats organic traffic, because I feel it is the most targetted.

Will post more content on it, drive social media traffic and see what happens . . .

thanks for the input guys . . .

        Hey Lisa,

First things first, do make any significant changes until the 28th. You don't want to trigger Google's random document penalty and start dancing.

        About your drop:

It could be a lot of things, unfortunately. Do you keep track of the onpage and offpage changes that you make on a week-to-week basis?

You might have triggered a panda or penguin minor penalty. Lets say you added some backlinks on Feb 1. Penguin rolls out and checks different parts of the web at different times. It's possible that your site didn't get double checked until the 14th.

Go back about a month and take a look at the changes you've made. Then start isolating the ones that look risky and start removing them one by one, each week.

        Hope this helps.

        Regards,
        Diggity

          @DiggitySEO

Thanks for the input. I will retrace my steps but i dont think I did anything that could have triggered something like that.

I had taken a break from link building, so I was just adding content, hoping to get good natural links back.

But 2 or 3 people did do some guest posting, so I will have to revisit those links.

And thanks for all your input.
