I just got an email from domain registry company about new offer to buy new TLDs.

yoursitename.app
yoursitename.blog
yoursitename.buy
yoursitename.cars
yoursitename.cloud
yoursitename.design
yoursitename.guide
yoursitename.home
yoursitename.hotel
yoursitename.inc
yoursitename.mail
yoursitename.mobile
yoursitename.music
yoursitename.news
yoursitename.nyc
yoursitename.online
yoursitename.place
yoursitename.rent
yoursitename.shop
yoursitename.site
yoursitename.tech
yoursitename.web
...etc.

Basically you can see that they are being offered to alternate the crowded .com and .net TLDs (which I believe still superior).

Some of us may love to have those alternatives to name the domain more specifically.
But for IM'ers like us... then comes my question (or just curious)...

1. Will this affect to Google policy or whatever Big G thinks about it?
2. Will it be soon?
3. How will you come with new idea about this TLDs and Internet Marketing/MMO?
4. What do you think about those new TLDs? Will it affect your IM business soon or later?

Just want to know some opinions.
Thank you in advance for your next kind responses.

Cheers,

Owid.-

.coms will always be superior and the most valuable for a long time in my book.

As far as the new domain extensions go I think they will come in handy for businesses that have a vested interest in a particular domain name extension like I can see chase bank buying a.bank extension for example.

But the vast majority will be useless just another way for the registrar's to make more money.

.com will always be leader of market because all popular websites are using .com

others tld will be just bought by these popular website like they do it normally .

Have you ever seen facebook.info or Warriorforum.net

Just a good way to earn money for registrars

    superowid,

My very personal view and long story short:

Why would I go to a new TLDs when there's a huge .com market..?

At the moment only IMers are aware of other tlds than .com, .net, .org..., most people associate websites with a .com.

Same here, I never have and probably never will buy anything other than a .com

It just doesn't feel right to me, I feel like I'm on a downhill before I even start.

.net doesn't even cut it for me.

Many people, who have no IM experience, will always recognize the .com and not care about the new TLDs.

If I am going to buy a new domain name for a new website, all I know is that I am going for a .com and nothing else. Even if I don't find the right domain name that I want, I can still use different variations in the name.

I believe that .com will remain the most vital TLD, however, the new TLDs are definitely going to be important and we'll be seeing heavy usage from them. They're just too targeted to not be useful. I also think Google and other search engines will give them priority, since they are targeted and specific. I believe that you'll be seeing .email domains at #1 slots over .com domains when looking for e-mail.

I find some of them interesting, but like most above don't believe any of them will be a worthy rival of the .com TLD any time soon.

        $3,000 to register .Rich ?!

Should be avoided like the plague just on principal alone...

I get the idea of paying more for better and how it pays in the long run to purchase quality even if the initial expense is higher, but we aren't talking about anything even marginally superior here...

Paying 100x more for something of equal value just makes you look dumb - not rich.

I have zero vested interest in them outside of the slight curiousity to see if 'dictionary' names will gain rank in serp's for [exact] match searches...eventually, maybe, I don't know.

If so, that would be the only real temptation to consider buying any of the new tld's.

I generally stick with, .com, .net. and an occasional .info when all else fails.

Every time "new" TLDs are released, it's mostly a huge money-grab from the registrars. Every new release I've seen in the past 10 years of domaining have fallen flat while raking in many millions for registrars. The only TLD I would ever consider registering for a serious business is .COM. If you don't own the .COM of your domain, you will lose a lot of traffic and potential business to whoever does own the .COM version.

    Hey guys,
    Thanks for the kind responses.
I know the .com will be the main in the industry.

I'm curious about such TLDs like .rich ($3,000 per name) will affect to Google's searching system.

If the price is real expensive for just a name and it's targeting big companies...
Don't you think Google will make new calculation to its "animals" in order to compensate such new TLDs...???

      Perhaps...

I could see that - Google messing with it's algo at some point in the future and ends up pushing the needle too far in the direction of 'exact match' TLD's like .Bike and .Money and whatnot...

That 'loophole' would give rise to a new segment of SEO, and a tidal wave of info-products surrounding the phenomenon. I Can see it already

That same loophole would also piss a lot of people off and likely slam shut almost as quickly as it opened...

Anything is possible I guess, but even taking into consideration the possibility of the above scenario, it's probably just a good idea to completely ignore them until there is some type of solid proof they could help with rankings or your long term business.

I pretty much ignore them, I'm still able to find plenty of great domain names in the .com, .net, and .org worlds. I don't do any SEO or try to do any Exact Domain Name matching nonsense.

I'm a very proactive promoter of my own businesses and websites so these new TLD names don't hold any interest for me. As long as I continue to find .coms it's all good.
