Hello All

Just downloaded the newest Acrobat Reader and it has some new functions. You can now convert files to pdf right there in the reader, you can also covert pdf's to word documents to edit them.

I've been using Foxit reader for its lower resource usage, but this may switch me back, thanks for the heads up.

What you are talking about is the software to "Create" pdf's, this only converts to pdf

Okay my apologies. Your Acrobat Reader must be different than mine because all the conversion/creation features cost money. I'm using version 11.0.06.

Nope, my apologies, I read it backwards, it converts from pdf to word, you were right sorry. I guess I will continue to use open office for conversion, it does a good job anyway

I rather use Open Office for all of my PDF conversions. Microsoft Office lost me a long time ago by not being able to convert.

What version of Adobe are you using? Did you pay for it or is this the free version?

I have a software called Nuance PDF Professional that does this... and a TON more. Few hundred dollars though, but super worth it.

Open Office is great but some people referenced microsoft as if it could not save as a pdf but in fact word, powerpoint and excel all can be saved as pdf documents. When you click Save As you have the ability to specify the type of document and pdf's are one of the options. This is assuming you have microsoft from 2010 on.

I used to use Open Office but have switched to Libre which is free and the off shoot of Open Office started by many of its developers who jumped ship when it was taken over and left to whither and die.

  • I use a free plugin that allows anyone to convert my posts into a pdf. You can go even further by selecting specific posts to form an ebook to give away..

You really shouldn't have to pay for things like this
