DMCA - One Down 3 to go!

For many of you this may not mean much... but to me it parallels a small victory much like the feeling I had when I made my first sale online.

This guy stole my article, and was actually ranking several variations of my work on page 1 of google, where my article has been (and hopefully remains) on page 1 for some time. *He was stealing my affiliate commissions!

NOT ANYMORE!!!

Had I filed separate DMCA removal request for each URL, I believe google would've already shut down the other 3 blogspot URL's, had I filed each complaint on a seperate form (Ooops!)

Anyway... I know it's not a big deal, as I am sure many of you have done this before, but this was my first!

Lastly, I was starting to think google was being bias, as the Copyrighted material was on their platform, so to give credit where credit is due... they did their job!

And hopefully now, I'll start seeing my normal sales trickle back in, as I believe the above (now non-existent) review article was earning money for copying & pasting my work!

Did you file through a lawyer? or use a Cut and paste "Threat Letter" that indicated DMCA?

What did it cost if I may ask?

Either way Glad to hear you got your content back in the rightful hands

No lawyer, absolutely free... outside of any sales lost to the thief who stole my writings.

By the advice given to me here on WF, I went to Google 'webmaster tools', and located their request for removal form (I'm guessing acts as a "Threat Letter?" or indicated-DMCA) and submitted it through them (google), as the blog(s) housing the Copyright Infringed content was being hosted on their 'free' Blogspot platform/servers.

Took about a week, but they removed the 1st one (of 4 URL's) on my list, and informed me to file 'separate' removal requests for the others. So, I assume, by weeks end, the other 3 versions - all being used by the same user and all on Blogspot's platform/servers, will likely be removed as well.

Truth be told, I probably just helped other legit marketers of this product to move back up in rank, as they obviously got pushed down the ranks by those 3-4 slots being held by the 'infringed materials', in this case (stolen copies) of my original review article.

To date, I am still seeking the answer as to "HOW?" google allowed 3-4 [exact] versions (under different URL's) to all appear on page 1... You'd think the top 10 slots on page 1 would be occupied by the best 'unique' content available, no?

      Thanks!

I ran into the same problem with a blogspot blog and used the webmaster tools as well. They were pretty good about getting that site taken down. I don't know if they are as effective with other sites but since they own blogger its probably easier for them to monitor. I hope I don't have to find out.

I too found the blogspot team very responsive when I filed a complaint about 2 years ago - in less than 12 hours the offending blog was no longer!
