GoToWebinar Advantages..

Hi Warriors,

I'm about to start conducting webinars as a core part of my business and wanted to drop by to ask what your opinions are on the advantages of gotowebinar.

I mean, I think gotowebinar is really expensive and have several limitations. There are, without a doubt, many good services out there which are both less expensive and more feature rich.

For one example, I've been using GVO Conference for years without any issues and I currently pay $19,95/mo per 500 seats. In regard to features, it only compares to Adobe Connect (which is the best in my book).

BUT.. and this is a BIG but for me:

1) Mostly every tool out there is integrated with GotoWebinar and GoToWebinar ONLY. I'm thinking especially in LeadPages which I personally use and most wordpress plugins I can think of.

2) If there really are better and less expensive solutions available, WHY PRETTY MUCH ALL SUCCESSFUL GURUS AND WEBINAR PEOPLE run their webinars through GTW?

Thanks in advance for your insights on this matter!

Leonard

    GoToWebinar is outdated...

I used them for over a year before switching to Free webinars, webinar software, webinar services - ClickWebinar which is owned by the same folks that own GetResponse.

The biggest downside to GTW is their ancient and incompatible video codec which makes the recordings impossible to edit with Camtasia and impossible to upload to YouTube as is.

For me, I had to take my GTW recordings and play them on my screen and record them with a third party screen recorder in order to turn them into an MP3 that I could edit.

Also, Click Webinar is much more affordable than GTW and the recordings are output automatically as an Mp3 which makes uploading them and editing them very easy.

GTW is dying a slow and painful death and will continue to do so until they fix their codec.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Coby

P.S. Most folks use GTW because it's kinda like Aweber. It was the first provider (as far as I know) to offer this type of service. The service would be top notch if the codec issue was fixed.

Thanks Coby, I'll check it out.

In fact, I've been considering other alternatives like Teleseminars | Webinars | Instant Teleseminar and Stealth Seminar | Live and Automated Webinar Software. They have really attractive extra features and are cheaper than GTW.

What's bothering me to make me even consider GTW is the integration it has with leadpages and other software. It seems like no other service has the same level of cross integration -or any integration at all!

I tested the ClickWebinar's service and it's really good. It's obviously based in adobe connect, my preferred meeting and collaboration service by far.

That said, there is a big flaw in it: it has no integration with email services like aweber. So, you would need to do some custom programming just to be able to build your lists off your webinars.

As far as I can tell, it has any kind of email reminders built in neither, but don't take my word for it. Maybe someone using the service could enlighten us on how it can be integrated into the normal internet marketing flow.

An interesting data I found: ClickWebinar did a survey to their users asking what kind of integrations they would like to see and WHAT THEY WERE USING THE SERVICE FOR.

Interesting enough, only 19% of ClickWebinar users seem to be using the service for "Sales of Products and Services".

( you can see the full post here: You Spoke, We Listened: Results of our Survey on API Integration - Blog ClickMeetingClickMeeting )

This fact, combined with the lack of a direct integration with the more essential tools used in marketing such as autoresponders tell me the main focus and customer base of this service maybe is not internet marketers.

Anyway, it looks like a promising service but doesn't have what's needed for me at this time, at least, not out the box.

I'd love to hear what the guys using this service for their business have to say though..

BTW, I really LOVE the ClikWebinar's recording feature.

Perfect mp4 recordings available for download or share right after your webinar is done. Pretty impressive feature and a big point in favor of ClickWebinar.

And as Coby said, these recordings are widely compatible with pretty much all editing software available, including Camtasia.

I use Click Webinar to host my weekly group coaching sessions.

For me, they are added to my list at purchase (using a third party system). So that isn't an issue for me.

The Click Webinar system does have built in reminders and you can even choose the date and time and number of reminders to go out.

As for integration with things like Lead Pages. That's easy. Simply send them to a squeeze page first, then to a webinar registration form. This is what I did when I was using GTW. Squeeze pages will convert higher than normal webinar registration pages anyway.

But I don't know of thier existing integrations or how they would work with other third party services as it's not really relevant to me.

Click Webinar also allows you to export a CSV file of the registrants so you can add them to your list that way if you are using a self-hosted autoresponder.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Coby

Thanks for the quick reply Coby.

And thanks for pointing me out to the built in reminders. I'll look for them now..

On the integration with leadpages, yes you're right: we can always take that approach.

The thing is that leadpages comes with some high converting pre-built webinar registraton pages and they automatically subscribe the people who opting to your lists so no need of asking for a signup twice what could be annoying and hurt the conversion rates for the webinar registration itself.

Hey Coby, any particular reason why you didn't consider stealthseminar or instantteleseminar.com?

I like the extra features, especially the one related to automate your webinar recordings giving them the impression to be live.

But maybe the webinar platform itself is not that good?

After some investigation I found the real deal breaking with these services is how good the sharing screen feature works.. GTW seem to have been focusing on this feature since the very beginning since that's the way GTW sessions have to be hold.

I've found the ClickWebinar desktop share has some delay, but I guess the really important fact here is that audio and video be synchronized, that's both have the exact same delay if any.

What's your experience on this regard Coby?

I really wasn't aware of those two services, was the main reason I didn't look into them.

As for screen sharing at Click Webinar. It's fine. It does have a slight delay at times like you mentioned but my students have never complained as the audio and video are synced.

As for using Lead Pages. I'm aware of what Lead Pages does. I don't think you are going to hurt your conversions by having people sign up to a squeeze page first and then for a webinar 2nd. I did this for a couple of years and it worked great for me. Keep in mind that if they join your list first you can invite them to as many webinars as you want .

However, if you must send them to a webinar registration page and add them to your list at the same time then you can easily have something coded up to work. I bet that for less than $100 you could get a nice script written for you. I've had similar scripts created in the past when I owned an article directory to have the registrants added to my list.

Unfortunately, none of the platforms will fit what you want 100% - they all have their "quirks". So you will have to find the ones will the least annoying "quirks" and go from there. For me - the biggest issue was the recordings and ClickWebinar is a dream when it comes to recordings.

          Cheers,
          Coby

            Hey Coby,

            Thanks for your help man.

I upgrade my ClickWebinar account and just had my first webinar with it. I LOVE IT!

I'm now downloading the recording. It's incredible!

I love not having to use the camtasia recorder to record the webinar (which failed for me more than a few times and made me lose some good webinars. It seems like any recording more than 2hr long is due to fail when compiling..)

I didn't open the camtasia recorder up this time. Tell me about peace of mind!

(and that's without saying all the computer resources saved not using it! Less crashes == more quality webinars)

I'm still looking for a solution for automated webinars and Stealth Seminar seems to be the way to go, but I think I'm going to keep ClickWebinar. It's that good man!

Finally, I think I'm going to take your approach of optin first, webinar registration later. It just makes a lot of sense the way you just explained it ;-)

Thanks again for your help Coby!

              Glad I could help!

I agree that not having to run camtasia or a similar software while doing a recording is a burden removed. As you mentioned, less resources used by your computer which result in higher quality webinars.

I want to mention I already downloaded the mp4 recording, edited it using Camtasia and it's been upload it to my member area as we speak.

The recording was perfect, really light -lighter of I would expected from Camtasia Recorder- and as Coby said, perfectly compatible with everything!

Really convinced now that GTW doesn't deserve the headaches. They should do SOMETHING to retain their customers these says there are so many good options out there even at better prices..

All depends what you are using it for. I know Filsaime just came out with WebinarJam as an alternative...it's different but I suspect will be far more inexpensive if it fits your needs

I just got it but haven't played with it yet

Thanks for point me out to it Ken!

I just haven't head of it yet. But it probably deserves a try..

What I want it for is conducting regular "pitch" seminars. They would be training session for the most part, but I think that sharing a powerpoint presentation and being able of sharing my screen without lags is what I need.

If that solution has the built-in capability of turning a recording into a apparently-live webinar, that good be a good addition since it would potentially save me some extra money.

Hope the question is more clear now..

      And thanks for dropping by!

By the way, I heard good things about Google Hangouts and how it would be a killer for conferencing software.

However, I've had a really bad experience with it from the attendant point of view. the video just keep stopping and buffering all the time and it ha been impossible to me to keep up with the conference.

Now, maybe I have a no-so-good internet connection but I guess some of my invitees won't have it either.

I've not had those kind of technical issues assisting to GTW conferences. In fact, I have never experiences any issues attending GTW webinar seminars.

I hear people complaining about GTW requiring you to donwload a little piece of software for every webinar you wanna attend but to be totally sincere, it takes just second and I've attended to hundreds of GTW webinar from both my laptop and my phone and have never experienced any issues.

I know for a fact though that flash based conference rooms run into problems ofter and you're required to log out and re-log in to solve audio or other issues.

On top of that, many phones like mine (samsung S4) do not support flash.

As said before, I have absolutely no experience with GTW from the admin side of things, but all in all I think the customer experience is really good.

Maybe is that the reason why everyone seem to be using it, even with his outdated feature set?

Does it really excel into the sharing screen feature or is it comparable to others'?

Gotowebinar is the worlds #1 webinar software for a reason. I've used it to deliver hundreds of (several thousand total?) webinars over many years, since mid-2008, and do 4+ live webinars every week on it. It's professional and world-class. If all us world's top gurus are using it, and we are, there's a good reason.

video lags in others? epic fail; viewers won't stay around

gotowebinar has never once gone out on me, using it weekly for many many years, it's been 100% reliable. and the new HDFaces live video webcam feature rocks, now my customers can watch me in a video window in addition to desktop sharing.

    http://www.gotomeeting.com/online/we...-video-webinar

rockstar customer service, and legendary performance. Gotowebinar. Accept no substitute. :-p

I switched from Goto Webinar to webinar jam, I was smart enough to take advantage when they offered a life time membership for $300.

Best thing I ever did, I love it.

Conversions went up on my webinars, and now I don't have any extra costs for running webinars.
