Questions about acceptable marketing

This is my first time starting a thread here. I hope I'm in the correct area, if not I'm sure someone will alert the Mods and they will help.

Anyhow I just have a question about something I find quite common here on the WF

Other warriors starting a thread or WSO about some free program they have to offer some even asking for reviews. Many times it turns out that the free offer is actually the "opportunity" to signup in their down line for some MLM or Network marketing program.

Okay with that said.

Does that seem sleazy and unethical to anyone or is that something that you would find to be acceptable?

Just for clarification, I truly am curious about the question I have posed above. Personally I find it very disingenuous and would not want my direct up line to engage in this sort of trickery / dishonesty. I could not support this sort of tactic. But it seems so common here and I rarely see any backlash it make me think maybe it is acceptable.

Maybe I'm too "Old School"........But I don't believe that.

Thank you for your thoughts, Jim

    Jim,

If inside the WSO they promise you some sort of a free report and then inside it they sell you on a network marketing opportunity, that is a legitimate way to do things.

Some will even disagree with me.

Take a look at those who take a program that they are in, make a video about it, call it a scam in their title and then you find out that they already in that program but they just wanted you to click on their video rather then others.

That is another trick but it works for them.

      Thanks for the input.

It appears that I was not clear.

Or maybe the practice I find questionable is so mainstream / typical that many people expect it, or at the very least are not surprised to find the "great free limited opportunity" is just a farce to get you on their down line.

The adding of the word "scam" to a title is, I believe a bit different. The marketer is appealing to the negative, only hoping to get someone to realize.....it's not bad! (and buy /sign-up) through his/her affiliate link.

I do believe this is disingenuous in itself. I never purchase anything from a marketer using this type of tactic.

Well maybe I am "too Old School"

      Thank you, Jim R

I've never seen such a thread. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but I've never seen one.

      Thanks for your thoughts.

You know how when you start thinking about buying something new, be it a car or a TV or a Phone.....it doesn't really matter. But, the point is that you start noticing them all around you.

If you read this reply I'll bet you begin to be aware of these types of pitches more often that you realized.

      Thank you, Jim R

I recommend to stay as far away as possible from any network marketing "opportunity" and anyone promoting one and learn how to build a real business online without having to recruit, Just my .02.

I understand that most of us here have a signature with some kind of information, offer or free report. But as I was told by one of the kind hearted veterans of this forum, it's just people talking here. So even though I also have a signature, I try my best to add quality to this forum by just talking and sharing my experiences and hopefully someone will be helped by my comments and by that, I will earn the privilege of displaying my signature. Take care.
