If you where promoting a recurring product that was $9.95 a month as an affiliate...

Would you rather be paid 50% each month of the $9.95 as a commission or would you prefer being paid 100% of a $29.95 activation fee and nothing on the recurring charge?

Very curious as to what people think and prefer with this type of situation.

50% of each month. I love recurring income I don't have to do anything for.

Need more information. I'd need to be able to make a judgement on the retention likely for the signup. Is it high quality or flash in the pan?

Would I stay in for more than 6 months?

In my experience affiliates will tell you they want a cut of the recurring but given the choice they will take a higher bounty

This is what I have been thinking. Instant gratification wins most of the time. It's like the... You want a lump sum payment? Or do you want to wager they stay longer as a member and you make more over time. But you don't get it all up front.

If the recurring billing goes on for 6 months or longer on average I would take that. I have always liked recurring income for a long term income strategy.

I'd take the up front unless it's a very high quality site/product that the user will stick to for a long time. For example, I'd take the monthly option if I were sending users to Spotify.

The majority of people will opt for the 100% commission. The smart ones who are able to delay gratification will opt for the recurring payments.

Recurring income will be better in the long run, although it can take time to build it's very much worth it. One time payment products are just that make the sale and that's it. This can be good, but depends on the commission per sale. If the commission is is good with the offer you are promoting you can profit quicker.
