I have a question for anyone who charges ad space on their website

Here is a good question for you...
If you are charging for ad space on your website - how often do you share your stats with the potential advertiser? Does the Advertiser typically ask to see your monthly traffic reports?

Because I have noticed on a lot of websites - it just list the pricing and they never tell anyone what kind of traffic that the site generates...

    Alexa.com and trafficestimate.com are OK and assuming traffic flow, although traffic varies day to day.

    With either of these sites if the website isnt that old it wont be able to produce results.

    Another way to guess traffic is see where they are ranking on google for certain keywords. Its not a guarenteed way but atleast you know how well there SEO is and how it can help you.

    If the ad is cheap enough it may not really matter to some as It still gives you a link to your site (But that depends on your prefrence)

    you can pay the fee and track the clicks coming from said site to see if its worth continuing to advertise with them or not. But bottom line, is there is no specific way to know without asking the website owner, but even then you need to trust him and his reputation to base if its a lie or fluff.

    Wish there was a better answer but If there is I am unaware

    I haven't rented any space on my blog, but I have thought about this question many times. If I had the traffic coming into the site and rented space I would send the advertisers a monthly traffic and click stats.

    This way they would know whether or not they are spending their money on the right site.
    I may also blog about their offering as well. Just to get them noticed.

    Definitely would send a traffic and click report too them.
