Authority Website Question

Hello:

I started a fitness website 6 months back with the intention of turning it into an authority site in 2 years. I am adding new quality content continuously and this site now has about 100 articles. However, I have not yet monetized it yet. I am getting about 1000 visits a month, not much. Should I continue this for the next one year is my question? It has not become as successful as I had thought it would be. I am planning to add amazon and clickbank product reviews now for earning some money from it. What else can we do to make this start earning money for at least paying for content? My plan is to forego this site after 2 years for a good sum hopefully and by then it would be earning at least 2-3K a month. I have not yet built any links also, so may be thats the reason for the low traffic? However, lot of keywords are found in webmaster tools and other websites are linking to it. I have not checked keywords for ranking though.

You should be doing more keyword research I think. Look for longtail ones too with low competition and decent search volume. Optimise your articles for more traffic. Relevant product reviews could be a great move - keyword specific, once again. Use LSI's. Internal and external linking should help site rank and include pictures and videos where you can. Use trackbacks. Ping new content regularly. Social bookmarking could help too. With a few simple changes, this site could really power! Good luck to you.
