What does it take to build a membership site that charge $97/month?

Hi all,

I am planning to build a membership site that charge $97 a month. I know it may sound absurd at first, but hear me out.

My target audience will be offline business owners not IMers.

I will be providing monthly content delivered via email. They will be able to download the file and mostly it will be in the form of 15 - 20 page report. Planner, checklists etc.

I will have interviews with industry experts delivered as a bonus every quarter.

Over time, i will also have a forum so that members can interact with one another and exchange ideas.

Besides all these ideas, what else I need to do or look for to make my membership site worth the price they pay for.

If you have joined membership sites that is worth $97/month or more, what is it different from those typical $27/month - $47/month sites?

    You are going to charge $97.00 per month for an email that contains "Planners" and "Checklists"??? If I paid $97.00 and that is what I got, I would be pretty pissed. If I knew in advance I would not bother.

    If you want to charge $100.00 a month, $1,200.00 per year, I had better have access to a website with tons of information and tons more information added weekly?

    This is strictly from a buyers perspective.

      Most offline business owners do not want information. They want results such as more leads or more sales. Getting that for them will help you keep them as long term customers and you can sell that as a subscription, or retainer on a monthly basis.

    Stop guessing about what they might like and ask upfront what it would take to make a membership that valuable then find a way to make it happen

    You will have to offer much more that that ^^^ if you expect to be paid $97 per month...

    You are not dealing with desperate sometimes delusional people digging for gold online, successful SBO's are driven by results. As a businesses owner myself (Hospitality Industry) we are interested in increasing the bottom line and maximizing profits, we don't have time to sift through information that is of no use.

    The overheads for SBO's are a killer, rent, wages,electricity,gas,insurance,advertising etc. have to be paid.
    If you can prove to me that you can show me how to cut costs, streamline my business, get more feet through the door, increase my net profit yes i may be interested...
