Once your website is up focus on building a
list of prospects that would interested in

At this point you have to further educate yourself
on your niche (and other development). You'll
also need to focus on traffic generation from here.

3. Generate Targeted Traffic

At the very least I believe this is where one
should start. It's a smart move to transition to
the online marketplace but with all the competition,
the more targeted your advertising the better.

As another poster stated, forum marketing works
well - you'd just need to join forums related to
skin care products, etc.

What I meant is that I'm not of the mindset that I can start making money tomorrow (even though I'd like to) because I know I've got a lot to learn about how to do this right but my initial goal is to make $100 a day after I've spent some time educating myself which I realise could take me 2-3 weeks to be ready.

Paul, before I read your reply I had reached the conclusion that it would probably make sense to start with the product I'm already familiar with and is selling extremely well because customers are seeing quick results.

I already have a website (created by the company that makes the product) so could someone please either explain or direct me to some step by step instructions that will teach me how to drive traffic to my website.

Also, I keep hearing that FB is a great tool but I don't know how to get started with a business FB page.

This is a high quality product but don't know how to find my target audience so your help and guidance would be much appreciated.

The quickest way to start is to use your expertise - so I agree with the others - stay with skin care with is an evergreen profitable niche anyway.

On your website you need to offer something like a free report - Kevins idea is great. It must be related to what you offer in terms of skin care products. But the report can be purely information - written or videos with tips on how to apply the product for example.

People will then give you their email address to receive the report and that is how you build your list. So you need a form on your website which can be created easily if you have an autoresponder account (Aweber of GetResponse are good).

I don't know if you are getting any traffic to your website already but I would imagine there are many forums just like this one but focused on skin care. People looking for tips on health and beauty. Have a look and find some that are getting plenty of visitors and posts. See if you are able to add a signature like you can on here. Then you can offer your free report for people using the forum to sign up to.

Article marketing stills works - write some articles (not promotional) helpful ones with tips etc. and post them to ezine articles or to an article directory specifically for health and beauty if there is one (provided it gets lots of traffic).

I think you could also generate a lot of traffic from You tube if you created some really short videos with tips and tricks. People love that sort of thing.

Have a look to see if there are already some facebook groups related to your topic - whats good, whats bad - see if you could improve with your own facebook page - or just involved in that one for research purposes.

I wanted to help you out as i went through alot of pain over the last 3 years myself and as you know making money online is not easy so here is what i wished i had 3 years ago.

1 .Build an email list and build a relationship with your subscribers.Get to 2,000 subscribers as your first goal nothing else.Just focus on that.

2 .Make sure you stay committed.

Please i DON'T want you to go through the same pain i went through, if you follow this this will save you years of wasted time and money!

This will take you into the 2% who succeed online and are NOT chasing shiny objects.

For some quick traffic I recommend Youtube video promotion. I

f you have an advertising budget I highly recommend paying for ads on youtube to get some quick traffic to your website.

Your videos will also start to rank well after a good solid promotion through Youtube.

Also, try and Stick with/ Master ONE traffic source until you move onto the next.

Stick to your niche - don't have to jump into another one that you might not even enjoy working on. FB is really a good place to get some interested buyers on board - especially in your niche.

If you have access to the physical products at a low enough price you may want to condier selling some of you inventory on Amazon.com which of course is a huge marketplace. If the specific item is already available on Amazon than there are less hoops to jump thru to get set up. If it is not than you will need to get a UPC code. Amazon has some strict regulations but they have all the information available to help you learn.
The FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon) method is the way to do this. I hope this idea helps. It may become a part of you long term stategy.

I would focus on learning how to market first before you realize what niche you want to be in. I am a network marketer and a personal trainer. I started my fitness site first but of course without the marketing knowledge I was stuck with my fitness site.

Then I came across the network marketing industry and became a sponge! Learned the proper way to market my business online and at the same time I coach my students and leads how to do the same.

Now my fitness site seems like childs play to me!

So accidentally I make money with my network marketing business because of the residual and monthly income it generates for me with little effort.(lots of effort to get started though!)

Now my fitness online site I can focus on as well with the knowledge I had previously learned from network marketing.

In summary, if you know how to market online and learn how to scale your business you make any online business you are passionate about.

Sky is the limit! And while you are building your niche business you are also growing your leads from your network marketing by teaching other how to do the same.

Keep in mind that many skin care products are a dime a dozen. If you truly believe your product is better. Make sure you express to people why in your marketing. As far as going with another niche, stick with what you know.

I am far from an expert in such matters but the fact that an item is patented (as many things are of course) probably has no bearing on the channels that it can sold through. Amazon will help you, they are generally very frindly toward sellers and potential sellers.

So best way to start is through generating traffic (new visitors) to your website. Traffic can come from forum marketing (posting in forums with your link in your signature), blog commenting (Comment on blogs and have a link back to your site), word of mouth, paid ads, and social media. The easiest way to start out is probably by using this free tool to generate traffic through social media.

Then it's best to send that traffic to a landing page. A landing page is where you collect the users contact information in exchange for something of value (free ebook, free sample, video series, etc.)

Now that you have their contact information you want to follow up with them through an auto responder or however best suits your business based on the information you gathered from them. Through the follow up is where you will make sales and get people coming back to you.

If you can show that you have a successfull real world business, you may be able to team up with an established on-line marketer. Half of a lot of sales'profits is much better than all of the few that a beginner is liikely to generate. You handle the fulllfillment and they handle the advertising and sales.

2. Make Skincare your niche, establish yourself as an expert in it, and sales will come along.
3. Pick a few most popular forums in your niche and post quality comments.
