I honestly have made plenty of sales in a market where most buyers are...

A.) Afraid of keyloggers so they are always careful about what links they click

    and

B,) Are somewhat computer savvy and most likely see the link they are clicking with my affiliate ID before they click it,

So no in my honest opinion if you are first starting out you do not, would I have one? Most likely yes, because at some point you will realize it just doesn't make sense not to.

Of course you could still be successful without one as I am now.

Alex, a cloaker simply masks an affiliate link, often using what is known as a frame. Some affiliate networks don't allow the use of frames or iframes which makes cloaking difficult.

A redirect is simply a bit of code in a webpage on your domain which allows you to use a "prettier" link.

    Here's an example:

Let's say your affiliate link for a dating product is http://affiliate.dmerchant.clickbank.net

    and your domain is http://example.com

You could create a redirect by making a small PHP page and adding this code:

    Code:
    <php
    header("Location: http://affiliate.dmerchant.clickbank.net");
    ?>
You then create a folder on your website with a "pretty" name - e.g. "dating" and you save the PHP page as "index.php" and upload it into the "dating" folder.

Your redirect link to the dating product would now be: http://example.com/dating

You don't have $15? For that amount of money you got a website for a year.

If you don't have a website of your own you can always use simple tinyurl.com to hide your affiliate links for now.

    Hope This Helps!!

You don't *NEED* either of those things to get started making some commissions as an affiliate. The only thing you need is to 1) pick a market that is truly hungry for a solution and 2) a product along with a sales letter that is high quality and speaks directly to solving that need. If you have those two things you will make sales above and beyond anything revolving around hoplink abuse.

It may take a few tries to hit that sweet spot, but don't give up and you'll get it.

About having the money for a website, I assume you mean having the money to get a website made? Since hosting your website costs you as little as $5-$8 a month from the top hosting (eg Hostgator). You can find a lot of nice free web templates that you can use however you want at Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates., and you can also look into Wordpress WordPress › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform, which has many hundreds of free "themes" to choose from.

It takes a bit of time to learn your way around setting up a site, but there are many tutorials out there without any cost you can follow. Any stumbling blocks, post here and ask or send me a PM
