Internet marketing career plan!

Hello everyone,

I've been participating last year here on this forum and I actually started my first attempt to make money on the internet by promoting clickbank products, weight loss programs to be precise.

I failed and here is why, I made all what I need, the squeeze page, free gift, the follow up messages and everything was good, but I didn't had enough money to promote my squeeze page to get more traffic, so I stopped everything because for 3 months I was just wasting money paying the host and aweber without any result, I've got 18 e-mails in my e-mail list, some of them opened up all the messages but none of them bought the products I was promoting.

now my question is this, how much money I will need to start another project on promoting clickbank products? I mean how much money I need to spend on traffic only?

is it possible that I will start making money each month with this method? I mean I'll spend money on paid-traffic and I'll make some sales and I'll spend more money on traffic and make more sales the next month .... is that's how it work? because I felt confused these last months and I'm thinking about trying CPA or to make my own product and start promoting it but I don't really know how I can do that or how can I gather lots of people on a facebook page for instance and make a product they want and launch it and make lots of money on one single sale and then to put that product on clickbank and keep promoting it for the rest of my life while working on other projects, does anyone of you here know any course that teach that and is it possible?

what do you think guys, I'm a little bit confused, I hope you'll all help me out to settle on something and to answer my questions.

Thank you all in advance.

How did you go about getting traffic last time? And did you offer anything of value to your list or just sell sell sell? Send them a free recipe every so often or whatever just something that says hey I value you.

As far as a PPC campaign .. You need to start small and see what works then scale. There's a lot if competition in the weight loss area so see what they are doing and answer "what can I do better" get on some other peoples list and see what kind of stuff they are sending. Giving up is the worst thing you can do. Maybe the 4th month would have been your month .. Will never know now :/

My advice would be to start with "free traffic" like Video marketing, Facebook Marketing, Twitter, Slideshare or whatever. Use those traffic to make enough money to pay for your hosting and autoresponder because that are the most crucial parts you need to have in a real business.
Don't jump from one method to another because it is bringing you nowhere! I did it as well in the past and trust me the only thing you will gain is frustration.

      Take it step by step!
I tried both paid and free traffic methods, the free methods made my head wants to explode, I couldn't do it so I went to paid traffic and I got at least 16 of my leads by the paid traffic I used 7search.

Yes, I was offering lots of value, I was offering a 25 days free program and I was sending an e-mail everyday each e-mail contain a day in the program until 25 days end and they end the program, and within these e-mail I provided 5 products that match the subject of the e-mail, first product was on day 6 sec on day 10 third on day 15 fourth on day 20 and last on day 21 and the last e-mail which is the last day of the free program I included all the programs so they can get them if they didn't get them when I gave them the links at first.

I think paid traffic is very important, I was frustrated with free-traffic methods I was doing lots of articles on blogger and on facebook and I made youtube videos and lots of stuff but I didn't get lots of traffic, that's why I went to paid and I got 20 leads and I finished all of my money and I stopped everything.

now I'm thinking to start again but I need to know how much money I need to spend on traffic, do you guys think that $500 is enough to get some traffic and make some sales and keep repeating the process while tracking and tweaking and improving your business?

Kind of a hard question to answer, If you have 500 to put on a campaign, try it..

Spread out your keywords, and figure out what keywords are converting and which ones aren't. As far as I know there is no "system" to PPC, besides trial and error...

"Lose Belly Fat" may convert well for me. But no you and "easy diet plan" may work for you but not me. Try them and see, but if your not careful PPC can swallow up a LOT of funds FAST! I encourage you to approach with caution and test the waters before diving off the deep end!

While a business without traffic cannot survive, you may have been focusing on the wrong classifications of traffic. You mentioned several times "free" vs "paid" traffic but what your really need to be successful is TARGETED traffic.

I think one of the other posters mentioned that weight loss is just a huge huge niche. If you try to refine that down a little bit (eg, focus on some sub-niche such as post-pregnancy weight loss, post-menopause weight loss, etc), then your traffic will be much more targeted and refined. The more targeted the traffic and the more narrow your scope, the more likely you can provide the right product to the right prospect.

I think that is what is going to turn traffic into sales. Focus less on whether or not the traffic is paid or free, focus more on where the traffic is coming from and how to narrow your scope to get the right message in front of the right people.

Also, 18 people on the email list really is not a large enough list size to expect to make any significant sales (again unless it is super targeted). The reality is that it will take time to build up a list size large enough where you can see significant sales and profits.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't paid traffic better for collecting leads and building your list?

You've been reading too much WarriorForum if you think promoting clickbank ebooks to an email list is a career. It's possibly a good entry point to get your feet wet, but that is likely the extent of it if you are looking for something to build your life around.

If that's the general direction you want to go in, then you'll have to write your own books and promote them using high quality promo creatives and do a lot of media/blogger outreach.

Whether or not $500 in advertising is enough to get the ball rolling depends on if you are presenting something the traffic finds worth buying. If you dive in head first with your own newbie ideas you'll probably lose the $500. Take the time to research what's selling and how they are selling it.

You need to promote your products to a big enough and hungry enough audience for the commissions to bring you sufficient return compared to your traffic boosting spending. Definately go with the free traffic options already given, but concentrate on the target audience first.

If your products are for weight loss (massive subject and extremely competitive martket) to to visualise who might buy this product, and promote to them in a more focussed way e.g. it could be perfect for new mothers who have gained a few pounds and want to lose them after childbirth, in which case rewrite your sales copy specifically for this audience and market specifically to these people.

You can use printed mags and online forums and many other real and online outlets for your promotions, but focus your efforts better and you'll likely see improved results, imho. Have them search for your product and come to you - dont just pay via PPC etc to drag them in! These ones will not be of much value to you anyway.

          Good luck with it.

I'll let dub explain himself so I'm not twisting anything

but I want to ask you to clear something up...

"what can I do on the internet except promoting products or creating products and promoting them?"

What does that mean exactly? Internet marketing is Selling or promotion of a good or Service through the internet.... So you either sell/promote your product/Service (Create) or Sell/Promote Somebody elses (affiliate).

This is what Internet marketing is, No matter the niche, no ,matter the product. So you need to ask yourself "DO I work hard and create something and reap HUGE rewards ... Or do I continue to make Sam, Joe and Bob Lots of Money, While I make enough to get some McDoubles!

Not really a hard question I don't think!

Here is some good advice to absorb:

It's a Jungle out there, Just stick with it, try, fail, and repeat until you find a method that works for you and your product... Just because XYZ worked for weight loss, Doesn't mean XYZ will work for Acne (It may it may not) this is why we test small and scale up!

Sounds to me like you weren't using the free methods effectively. I work the crap out of free traffic generation to the tune of daily and highly targeted leads.

To build your list for free is the objective. Whether you accomplish that with a funded proposal in your sales funnel or use free traffic generation you want leads on your list for essentially free. This immediately puts you into profit.

Clickbank and ebooks will not get this done and your customer base will tire of you easily. High ticket recurring commissions. That's where your new career is if that's what you want out of this industry.

Anything else, frankly, is a waste of time. I teach my students to bring value value value and to do it with working daily on free traffic generation. Hasn't failed me or them yet.

The warriors already provided almost everything you need to answer your question.

I guess what I can add is, you have to define a career/business plan that is long term (not just 3months) to build or quit.

You can go over and over with all those products and strategies but if you don't have the right mindset of what you are really trying to achieve you'll get lost.

You say you need money to make money but that is not necessarily the case.

There are many free marketing methods here to drive traffic to your offer.

Sure they may take longer but with hard work and dedication it will pay off.

Have you tried Video Marketing / Article Marketing / Forums / Guest Posting a long with many other methods?

The key is to find one method and work it til you start seeing results.

Paid traffic will bring you faster results, that's if you know how to monetize your list correctly.

As with anything being consistent is the key if you want to succeed in anything online.

If you in tight budget to go with paid traffic, pay for hosting and autoresponder. Try video marketing first.

There's several websites like vimeo, dailymotion, youtube etc. But i suggest you go with youtube at first. No need to spend high budget on video marketing.

What you need to do is just make backlinks to your video. Of course you need to do depth in keyword research. So you will have video that easy to rank on search engine.

This is not free but you need to pay only upfront cost to rank the video. Find seo service on this forum, fiverr etc. It takes more time but it's worth it.. Once you make money invest the money on building list and squeeze page, facebook ads etc.
