Self-publishing: an interesting pair of blog posts

Very topically, right in the middle of the "awards season", here are the nominations for this year's SFWA "Nebula Award" (i.e. for the books published during 2013): Announcing the 2013 Nebula Awards Nominees! | Tor.com

Linda Nagata's The Red: First Light is the first self-published book to make the Nebula finalist list - a remarkable achievement and yet another step toward recognition of self-publishing (in science fiction/fantasy).

And now the pair of blog posts mentioned in the thread's title, both on the same blog ...

Here's writer Charles Stross, on his own blog, explaining his reasons for not self-publishing: Why I don't self-publish - Charlie's Diary

And here's Linda Nagata's "riposte", as Charles Stross's invited guest-poster, on why she does self-publish: Why I Do Self-Publish - Charlie's Diary

Both make some very interesting points, and in both cases the "comments" are worth reading, too.

    Great share.

But I'm supposed to be working on a DWS workshop assignment and you lured me into reading these. :-(

    Bad Alexa, bad!

    ;-)
