How long do YOU spend on a WSO?

I know it varies from one WSO to the other, I'm not looking for a generic answer. I'm looking for specifics from people who have put all the had into a successful WSO, I guess I'm looking for "inspirational" stories.

I want to Do my first here soon (IT will be an ebook, since I have no other "techy" skills for apps or programs/plug-ins) anyways, and I have been researching my tale off.

So if you don't mind sharing your story (Good or Bad) I'd really like to know! Thanks for reading!

My first WSO was a flop mostly due to the niche and I made the sales page myself.

I'm launching a 2nd one soon and I paid someone to do copywriting and graphics for the sales page, I will also be spending some time to get affiliates on board and get lots of review copies ready prior to launch.

I've been going through a course called Six Figure Alliance which goes over everything you need to know about launching WSO's and that has helped me immensely.

I've purchased and read many WSO's and it really comes down to what kind of quality you want to produce for your product, do you want people to remember you?

There is a fellow on this board named Tom E. who has released some really amazing products, he might launch 1 a year and when he does I'm closely keeping an eye out for people like him because I know he only puts out quality products vs. a lot of people who pump out junk every week.

    Just my 2 cents.

Sorry to hear it flopped, but I am glad to hear that you learned from it. I have been spending more time searching the WF than buying a WSO on making WSO's because I want to absorb and weed out all the free info I can before making a purchase. There's a lot of fluff out there, there are days when I feel like I have shredded a few pillows all over the place.

I'm gonna look into the course and the warrior you mentioned, and see about getting something out of there courses. I appreciate your story though. May I ask what niche, and what "product" you released? (ebook, plug-in etc)

A quality product is certainly part of the formula but unfortunately, not the most important part. I've run several WSOs since coming here. I had a very successful one in the fall of 2011. I think it was one of only three WSO/D that wasn't MMO/IM related.

It's hard to say exactly why it was so hot. Personally, I'd say the thread title got a lot of people to open the post. I had a partner for this and she knew a few affiliates that were willing to jump in, but only if there were some early sales. Those sales were there. It took me about six weeks to write the report. It was in the neighborhood of 35,000 words. People loved it.

I wrote the copy and she tweaked it for a younger audience. That's the key right there actually. You've got to know your audience otherwise you're screwed. And you've got to give them value. The thread title has got to draw them in and the copy has to get them even more excited.

We went into it with about 6 reviews from giving out review copies. But by noon (we opened the offer at 9:00 eastern time) we had a bunch of unsolicited reviews along with two video reviews. It took off from there and sold more than 1000 in a little over a month. It was dime sale style pricing starting at $7.77 if I remember, with each increase a penny. It was fun watching sales hit the Paypal account every minute or so.

Awesome you had a successful launch for one of them. Do you think its harder to have a successful WSO in the IM/MMO market? you know with all the stuff out there!

DO you have any advice for my first launch? or maybe other good No hype BS WSO's on the subject

It's harder to have something in IM/MMO because there's lots of competition. Advice? Yeah. Know your audience. WSO buyers are primarily male between 18 and 35. They don't like to read much. They most often like video presentations and info products. They want programs and systems that produce results (most often translated money) really fast without doing much work.

They like "proof" in the way of screenshots and other unverifiable stuff. They love "done for you" and autopilot stuff. For the past couple of years, since Kindle got hot there are quite a few Kindle products out there. I've purchased a few. One was excellent, a couple really sucked. I got one a review copy of one a couple of weeks ago and it was really good.

This isn't that hard really. Scroll through the WSO section and see what's selling. Then do what those sellers are doing. Have a good product. Ideally, have a couple hundred posts under your belt. Get some legit reviews and have them posted going in and disclose they were given out as review copies. Get involved with as many WSO mastermind groups as you can find. There are a few on Skype and on this forum. Look for hot affiliates that will promote your offer.

Another thing, don't rush it. If you aren't ready, tomorrow is another day. I see so many people come here chomping at the bit and they fail because they haven't set it up properly.

I've had several other successful WSOs but the one I described was a big winner. I ended up with a list of close to 2000 subs from that thing. I recently tossed the whole list. Forgive me, but many of them were a royal pain in the ass. MMO/IM isn't my cup of tea and even though that offer wasn't really designed for them, many MMO folks bought it.
