If you needed to get 1000 unique visitors in 24 hours...

If you needed to get 1000 unique visitors in 24 hours, how would you do it in the most cost/time-effective manner? (I'd rather spend time than money, but I'd also rather spend only one or the other for the most part.)

The reason I ask is because I have a blog that is in the dog training niche that gets around 45 visitors a day on average. Its adsense CTR is very high, and if I started building some more traffic to it I'm confident that it would make a pretty decent adsense revenue. But I am chiefly trying to build my list with the blog, as well as giving my dog training product exposure.

I have tried PPC a little bit, but I'm a bit hesitant to jump in to it because the budget is very small and I didn't see any return from my endeavors mostly because I don't know enough about it. I've been trying some SEO and Web 2.0 techniques, but to only small avail.

Any suggestions and ideas would be extremely appreciated.

    Targeted Keywords with very little competition but tons of searches, use web 2.0 property to tap into it, bookmark the property and you have it!

    The problem is:

    These kind of keywords is very hard to find.

    Be realistic and put time, effort or money to generate traffic...

    I would write one email and drop it to my list . I would offer a bonus to visit the site .

    This might not be your case. If you do not already have a list , you might try tweeting . I can get about 40 hits to a link with a tweet . just remember tweets will get ignored if all you do is promote .

    Use some sort of viral technique.

    Grab a old labrador video jumping around and singing (just made that up and it's late here ), upload it to major video sites, use web 2.0 viral techniques and promote it in labrador forums.

    Dog owners love to see their dogs doing all kind of weird and funny stuff.

      I would submit 100 bookmarks, could definately do that in 24 hours and I'd also say you'd get 1000+ visitors from that. Quality visitors probably not but you'd hit your target.

      Also I noticed you get 45 unique visitors per day, that's awesome, I think alexa may be wrong on your traffic stats if your getting 45 a day.

    Go find 3 people with giant lists in your niche...pay each person a *per visitor* fee of some sort. I've gotten 500+ subscribers from certain list swaps in the past.

      Why not try an ad in an ezine to do with dogs?
      The ads don't cost much and could reach tens of thousands of prospective subscribers and visitors.

    I would use the following strategy:

    1. Create a viral video and upload it to all major video sites.

    2. Create a presentation about your subject and upload it to all online presentation site (SlideShare, etc.)

    3. Create a viral article with a killer headline and curious subject.

    4. Ask all my friends in Facebook, StumbleUpon, Twitter followers, Digg.com, etc. to bookmark / vote a) the video, b) the presentation and c) the article, if they like them.

    I don't know if you are going to get 1000 visitors in 24 hours, but you will have a nice incoming flow of visitors and you can capture them in your list )

    The only real way to get that many visitors in such a short time without a list is to either do something to make it viral (which would be hard with a dog training site), or to pay for advertising. Try Facebook and target people with Labradors or something like that. Or try Adwords, but you'll have to spend quite a bit.

    You will more than likely need to wake up at 5 am and stay on your laptop myspacing, facebooking, and twittering until 11pm that night. I am certain that it would be exhausting but I am sure that if you're using effective efforts you may hit if not exceed your goal. I would try but I have no time.

      Hah, thanks for catching that. I have a syndication service that I'm trying out. It's free though and it sometimes sticks stupid, random posts on my blog. I have just had to watch and remove the ridiculous ones.

    The only thing I have ever experienced at that level is from Stumble Upon. So I would find out what gets stumbled the most and create something like that.

      I don't know the challenges of your niche, but I would suggest writing a bullshit article giving all kinds of bad advice. But make it advise that would be really inticising. Something like a super simple way to train your dog to never shit on the floor again. Put it on a blog or hubpage or squiddo lens.

      But, before you actually make the article go live, publish an alert article on your site saying how bad the first article is and why. Include the first article as part of your content so that people searching for it will find the whole thing on your site instead of elsewhere. By posting it on your site first you'll do better in the SERPS due to duplicate content stuff.

      Now that you have your alert up (along with the orginal article) on your site its time to start promoting the hell out of the terrible article.
      Pay a service to submit it to EVERY social site they can. Pay someone to comment on dog blogs about the terrible article, do a press release, make a video and get it submitted to every video site you know. Go the whole 9 yards.

      When the article goes viral in the dog community your site will be the first one to have accurate information. You'll look like an expert and hero. You'll get tons of credibility and anyone searching for the first article will find your site. They'll think your great and will subscribe to your list. When they do and you make tons of sales remember how amazing I am and send me some cash.

        If you provide good content I've got something for you.

        Go to your Propeller account ( or open one up) and get 10 of your friends to join.

        If this is not possible, search through the propeller community and send friend requests to the most active users.

        Once you submit a quality post or article ( remember we're not looking to spam here) send a "share this" message to your friends and telling them to prop up your submission.

        If you get 10 props within 2 hours you'll be on the front page of Propeller which will send the number of visitors you require. Although not targetted they will be unique.

        Just a warning, make sure your server can handle a big flux of visitors from the social bookmarking sites otherwise you will crash your server.....
