Creating an Exclusive Forum...Questions For You

Warriors,

I've got a responsive email list around 850+ subscribers. I've had a good response from them about creating an exclusive forum/message board for only them for only $7/month subscription fee. This way, it keeps it more exclusive and keeps out spammers, etc. They seem to be ok with that.

Now, here are my questions...

1. What do you think is the best forum system to use, that also has a way for me to charge a monthly subscription fee?

2. Should I create a unique website URL for this site, or simply keep it on the same domain?

3. How can I make sure ONLY those who are on my exclusive email list are allowed to opportunity to join?

I'd love to get some feedback on these questions from some of you who might be running something similar.

Thank you!

    1. If you have a good budget go for vBulletin or you can use phpBB which is free.

    2. website.com/forum

    3. Make it a invite only forum. The settings for this depend on the forum system you use.

    All the best.

To automate the process, you could use a WP membership site plug-in (like Fastmember for example) and set the monthly access as a product. Then install Mingle forum for Wordpress in the members area. It passes parameters so people who are paying will be automatically logged in to the forum with the site credentials.

So, members get access to the site providing they are paying the $7 a month. If they stop the subscription they are automatically kicked from the members area.

Also, as the forum is in a controlled members site, you will not get forum spam.

I have used Mingle inside a members area and it works perfectly.

Then you could expand and create other products in the members area and put on paid workshops etc.

Whether you put the site on your main domain or a sub domain or simply a folder off your main domain would be entirely up to you. I have dev. licenses and can set it all up for a fee.

    Hi mate
I don't think that you'll need forum , you'll need a wordpress where you post your lessons or courses with discussion and a membership plan .
I think this WP theme will be excellent for your need

No, I want a forum only, just like here at the Warrior Forum.
