Need Advice on partnering with a well reputed sports coach/instructor

I'm looking to approach a well reputed coach and help him increase his revenue. Currently he makes money selling instructional DVDs on his own site, YouTube Videos and providing in-person coaching. I strongly feel that I could help him increase his earning potential with IM. My friend will be providing an email introduction to the coach and I need to craft a written proposal spelling out the benefits of forming a partnership with me. Any advice on what I should say in this email?

Thanks for your help!

Don't use email as your first approach. Always make the effort to call ... even to introduce yourself and ask if it would then be ok to send an email that you could call to discuss some time later.

I feel you would get a more positive and considered response to your proposal this way, and you instantly know from that initial call how your idea is received. If you send an email, do you truly know if it has been received, opened, read, digested, ignored, deleted, arrived in spam folder, and so on?

Once you have permission to send the email you can then sell yourself as a solid, reliable, trustworthy partner to use for promotion of the products etc. Never over-promise and under deliver!

      Hey Cliff,
Thanks for your reply. My friend will be making the intro through email, so I don't control the method of the intro. Just an FYI - We're also in different countries.

Perhaps you can arrange to speak to him on Skype. If you can get a conversation going you can find one or two areas that he is having issues with and make him a limited proposal. Once he sees dollars it will be a lot easier to get his business for the rest of his products and markets.

Make sure you have really looked at his business and have some specific ideas in mind. You will also have to think about how you want to be compensated. Are you willing to just take a % of any increased sales etc?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

    Tell him:

    1) how will help his business
    2) how much he'll profit from your partnership

Problem is, to go in with any kind of pitch, you probably want to have an idea what his numbers are first.

And honestly, I think making email contact with someone for your initial pitch is a horrible idea.
