Running Your Own Affiliate Program...Legal Info
I know there are a ton of plugins and scripts for affiliate programs. At one point in time I ran my own for a couple of months but ended up discontinuing it because once I upgraded my site it was no longer compatible with the affiliate program. I paid everyone that was owed anything and was done with it.
Now I'm interested again in starting an affiliate program.
If I run my own affiliate program using a script/plugin do I have to send out a tax form at the end of the year for everyone that makes over a certain amount (I've heard it was $500)? Are there any legal issues in some states with affiliates/affiliate programs (I've seen some companies don't work in some states but they are much bigger so that may have something to do with it)?
Is there a good resource online that has legal information on affiliate programs?
