I've been using this amazing email scraper lately...

I'M KIDDING - don't ban me

Seriously though, what is it with people always looking for shortcuts and afraid to do hard work? I build my lists the old fashioned way, with a squeeze page and occasional paid advertising (ppc, Facebook, solos etc.)

I've seen like 4-5 people just TODAY make posts asking about email scrapers or other means to obtain email addresses with the intent to spam.

If you're JUST looking for an easy way, you're not going to get very far with your Im career. If you want to make money online in a certain market, here's what you do:

  1. Build a squeeze page in that niche - I use WP Lead Rocket (wordpress plugin) and it works AMAZINGLY well
  2. Offer a free report on your squeeze page. To get IDEAS for your report, visit Magazine Subscription Discounts & Deals | Magazines.com and take a look at some of the headlines on magazines in your niche that capture your attention. Magazine publishers pay GOOD money for those headlines and articles, because it gets you to pick up the magazine - and hopefully become a subscriber (joining their list). (You can also use that headline on your squeeze page as it's obviously proven to convert - just make sure your report goes with the headline you use)
  3. If you don't want to write the report yourself, have a 2000 word article outsourced via iWriter : Article Writing Service | Get Content For Your Website, Cheap! - use a 4 star writer, it'll cost you about $30.00 or so. Once you get the article, take some time and add heading tags, bold various texts, add pictures - make it look like something YOU'D want to read. Don't worry about giving away too much good info - the MORE good info you give away, the higher respect you'll get from your list and the more they'll be likely to buy from you in the future.
  4. Next up, set up 7 days or so of emails in your auto responder (the most popular ones it seems are aweber and getresponse) - the 1ST email should be a ' thank you ' email with a link to the free download. The 2nd email (works well for me), should be a follow up - asking them if they downloaded the report and asking for their feedback or questions (helps to build a relationship from the get-go and sets you up as a real person that wants to help them) I usually make my 3RD email a promo, and suggest it goes great with the free report I sent them a few days ago. The 4th should be good helpful information, or even just a link to a youtube video that offers great advice in that niche, the 5th 6th and 7th can be a mixture of both good info and promos. You get the idea
  5. Now that your funnels set up, it's time to get TRAFFIC to your squeeze page. There's a MULTITUDE of things you can do for that:
  6. Join various forums in your niche and add VALUE to the discussions - make sure they allow signatures before you join of course. Make 3-5 helpful posts per DAY - and do NOT add your signature until the end of day 7 - you dont want to look like sa spammer, but you want people in that community to trust you.
  7. PPC Traffic - I love Adwords and facebook
  8. Youtube - create value filled videos and add a link to your opt in. You can also get traffic for pretty cheap if you opt to do paid ads in youtube
  9. There are a TON more ways to get traffic to your SP, but these should get you going
DON'T SPAM - seriously, don't even THINK about it - you'll just get REPORTED as a spammer by people you email, and your open rate will suffer because people have no idea who you are or why you keep sending them offers.

Anyways, rant over - I hope this helps

Jeff

Great post! I don't know why people are always trying to "game" the system. It gives IMers a bad name, making it tough for people trying to make an honest living.

I think it about time somebody posted something like this, it's like a slap on the face for the new IMers but it's the truth that they have to live with.
There's nothing that comes easily so you have to get up and start working and trying new things in order to succeed.

I am so sick of receiving unsolicited email from people who use scraped email lists.
Just today, I have received more than 30 between the 3 email addresses I use.
It's not like I open them and allow any tracking, either.
It's such a waste of my time, having to delete them all.
Do these people not realise the futility of sending out spam?

It's the beginners mindset, they don't do research before action.

  • I must agree it use to be enough to just start up a business to run at home and fire the boss.
Now everyone wants to spend $47 -$2,000 dollars and expects to have everything done for them.
To run a business by a push of a button and not have to do any work.
Well Jack here are three magic beans just plant them and your dreams will come true.
    Good Luck

Nice, succinct post. Great info here, I hope some newbies read it. I don't get how people think the spamming even works. If anything it deters the vast majority of people from even paying attention to them, even if they turn legit in the future. Someone they spammed before may be a prospective lead and then realize it is the same spammer and they will never gain that person again. The short-term strategy is very rarely the best, or most profitable, strategy.

I couldn't find that plugin, but I found WP Lead Plus at WP Lead Plus - Best Squeeze Page Creator Plugin For Wordpress The Lite version is free and the Pro version is a modest $49 on-off payment and comes with lifetime updates too.

Once you watch the video tutorials it becomes easy to use.

Ok good info however I was just reading a thread in the ecommerce section and this is what a mod put.

Moderated: Your thread would still be open if you didn't try to trick people with a misleading title.

wondering what the difference is here and is it ok to put misleading titles as long as the info is good.

Isn't this what most email marketers do with their emails they send with headlines like "You've got commissions due" etc.

I would imagine because the people I AM actually trying to trick are the same people that actually think spamming is a legit and honest way to run their 'business'....
