Question About Video Courses

I just read in an other thread about someone selling high priced Video Courses. This seems like something I'd like to pursue.

I have many years of experience in producing video content for television. I like producing videos.

My question is how anyone can sell any video content online? (courses, instructional videos, how to videos or any other type of video content) Everything I can possibly think of is already available for free on Youtube. I can not imagine why anyone would pay for any video content online.

What am I missing?

If you are a beginner then perhaps the best route to take will be producing and selling a course on a platform like Udemy. Everything is pretty much set up and you can learn a lot before moving on and making your own website and branding your courses.

And why would anyone pay for video content on line? This might sound like a vague answer but it all comes down to the value you are delivering. Also, people that are familar with you and have a relationship with you will be more open to spending money with you and supporting your products... all while you also deliver value to them.

    Two main suggestions:

    1. Over deliver in value when creating content.
    2. Develop a relationship with your audience, preferably via email.

There is a lot more to cover but this would be a good starting point.

Just because it's free on youtube doesn't mean you cannot monetize it.

using easily applied SEO tactics you can rank an "introductory" video to the top in about a week for any targeted keyword you choose ( a little longer for high competition keywords).

In the description of that video you give a link to a video sales page (being that video is your strong suit) and sell your knowledge from there.

People will usually do what you tell them, if they believe in what you have or are doing.

That being said you have to give away some of the "course" for free in that introductory video and quite possibly again in the sales video.

this gives the potential buyer a taste of what is to come, and the more practical the information is to put into action for them the easier time you will have selling the rest.

      Hope this helps

When you consider many (most) people are lazy, to find a lot of good content in one location is generally far more favorable than having to troll the internet for hours for a few good tips.

Then if you have something unique to sell (eg an SEO technique to get the video onto page 1 of Google in no time flat, then you'll be on a winner.

    Joe,

I'm currently making money using videos on YouTube in my promotional strategy to build traffic and brand recognition, and I'm working on a complete video course that I'll going to launch on Udemy.com.

You should check out Udemy, it's a great platform, they have a strong marketing department, but you get to keep 100% of the profits for students that you bring into the course. For students that they recruit through their marketing, you get 50% of the profits.

PM me, I'd like to learn more about what niche you're in. I can show you my website, it might help you understand more about what I'm doing. (I recently launched a digital book, and in one of the packages I'm selling a discounted pre-order to my video course for $99) I plan on selling the video course, once it's available, for $159.

No, I definitely think there is HUGE potential for QUALITY video courses. Sure, you can search for stuff on Youtube but the quality there is all over the board. Also, a lot of people would rather pay you x dollars for an all-in-one solution that is go-to and ready to go rather than wasting hours upon hours searching on Youtube in hopes of finding what they need. Youtube stuff also tends to be very "quick and dirty" and that is not going to be detailed enough for a lot of folks.

If you can make and produce quality video products, there is definitely lots of potential for very good profits from that. Good Luck!

A lot of folk will offer basic freebies or 'tasters' on free video sites like YouTube.. However, the real 'meaty' stuff is usually saved for a paid product.

Videos that work best are 'over the shoulder' videos where you show the potential customer the exact steps that you took to achieve & successfully complete a process. Videos should be short & bite-sized, which helps viewers absorb the information in a better manner.

    You can offer videos in 2 ways;

    - You can package them up in a zip file & offer it as a download link when someone pays
    - You can offer a membership site, where you present a series every week for say 6-8 months.

You should offer support and contact to your customers, which is not offered with YouTube. People will pay for someone to coach them and answer any questions they have. Add value to your video courses, and people will pay.

If you really search hard enough then you can find almost everything for free on Youtube or elsewhere on the net. But people are lazy you must know and if you can present something to the point to them and they don't have to search like a couple of hours for this kind of information then they will buy this course. just have a look at Youtube about fitness videos or how to lose weight videos. There are literally tons of them but still people buy how to lose weight video courses.

Provide a information people really need and they will buy it doesn't matter if they can find it on Youtube for free!

Several reasons why they would buy it.

    1. single place for all the information they need
    2. better production qualities
    3. credibility (i produced/directed/edited xyz tv show) versus hey, do this for video
    4. a plan of action for those that take courses
    5. not everyone is comfortable searching for things on youtube.
    6. normally you have time or money, not both. Those with time search out free stuff, those with money are willing to pay something to learn it quick.
    7. Hype Hype Hype <--- make billions of dollars by pressing the space key three times a day... I'm in! <-- not always but you understand.

The fact is, when you have credibility, and when you have something to offer, you can sell these course. I have a lot of customers I have tried to teach to be self sufficient and they just don't have the time, which is why they watch my course or pay me to do it.

People like structure and although videos are free on youtube have you tried to find the second video of a course, they are not usually in order plus they usually never finish them.

People would rather pay for a video course with a step by step plan than bounce on the internet trying to find free video.

I suggest you start at udemy.com Start with a free course of about six videos. Now as they sign up you have a base of students you can market a paid course to.

There are many platforms out there to sell your instructional video.

The best way is to package it with mentoring and or coaching.

    Good luck.

I can attest to the fact there is a ton of money to be made in Youtube videos and also in the instructional arena. The main thing is to focus your attention and learn from the best. It will pay off.
