I'm Being DDoSd By A Fellow Warrior

Yep, that's right.

I responded to a thread in the Marketplace section here, and when I added him on Skype, that gave him my IP address.

He said I scammed his friend out of money, told me my IP and said he would begin now.

I have the router logs.

Besides reporting him to ISP, what other actions should I take?

If this is the IP from your ISP on your home PC that runs Skype, you should be able to change the IP by resetting your router. I think most ISPs use dynamically assigned IPs.

Time Warner utilizes a Static IP and to change my IP, I have to change my Mac Address.

The problem is, I don't know if he can still see me on Skype despite me blocking him.

I don't have my own YouTube channel I actively use and Skype gives anyone who wants it your IP. It's been long known for Skype to do that but I'm not honestly sure how they would prevent it from doing that.

You don't have Mac Address spoofing on your router? Most routers allow you to clone a Mac Address of a device on your network. That would force the ip address to change.

By the way it is not a static ip. It is an assigned lease that has a set number of days.

It's never a bad idea to use a VPN, and you can get some really cheap. Or even free, if you look a little. If anonymity is critical, like if you could get prosecuted, I wouldn't go with those, but for hiding your IP from people you interact with, they do fine. And you don't have to worry about setting proxies in any program's configuration, once you activated it, all your Internet traffic goes through VPN.

Well mine never changes. I had the same IP for a couple of years before I basically forced it to change. Time Warner is weird like that.

I'm taking a few steps of my own, I'm just making sure I don't miss anything.

I think it's time to only add personal friends to Skype. I can't stand how Skype lets anyone who wants it see your IP address.

You could send him this link - Denial-of-service attack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and ask him if he'd like a long holiday!

Those are usually cases against companies where hardware is destroyed or needs to be replaced. I'm not saying you can't get convicted for a petty DDoS like that (because it has happened) but we'll see.

It's just one of those things, like why? Why do something like that? How childish are you that your solution to an argument is to DDoS them?

Usually people can not see your IP if you are simply chatting with them over Skype.

Usually means any tool that would resolve the IP is illegal and DDOS attacks are illegal as well.

If some Skype user is threatening you, you should report this to Skype.

If you are really concerned you can use a proxy or VPN:
