A question about email List Brokers

Hey Guys & Girls

I'm new to Warrior so I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong forum

Over the past few years we have gathered a few million subscribers through our various insurance websites. Things have been going great but we are now interested in renting/selling our database to list brokers and move onto different projects that we are more passionate about. Does anyone have experience with this? What are some of the better brokers to work with?

I'm guessing the main advice would be to never rent/sell a database as it can be more valuable to keep it, but long story short we've decided to take the route of renting/selling to a broker

Thanks for any help you have

Subscribers, as in "Gave you their email addresses expecting to get regular, ongoing mail of a specific type?"

If so, there are a lot of questions. The biggest is one for your lawyers: Does/did your agreement with these people include the right to sell those addresses to someone else? Did it promise "We'll never rent, share, or sell your address?"

The privacy policy you had in place when they gave you the info is important.

Assuming that all falls into the realm of legally kosher, you get into the value of the list. Without significant investment in a valued relationship that can be transferred, I'd guess about $20 for the whole list.

On the flip side, if there's a brand relationship that can be passed along and they're used to and look for communication, it could be quite valuable. Too many variables to even make a wild-assed guess at this point.

I'd tend to go with the $20, barring factors that aren't at all common when questions like this come up.

If you have a list, you can sell Solo Ads to other marketers in the same niche. For example, say when you send out 1 email to your whole list, and you include the link of another marketer in the email you can charge by how many clicks you can guarantee. This can be very profitable business. Marketers charge anywhere from .35 to .50 per click, and if its a buyers list, you can charge much more.

Hope this answers your question. If not feel free to clarify. Thank you.
