JG, The best way I have found to get traffic is through writing articles... It won't happen quickly but if you stick at it, it will pay big dividends for you long term. |

| Exactly. PPC - direct TARGETED traffic that can ultimately get you visitors within 15 mins. You could also invest in the new Stomping the Search Engines 2... Well you would actually be investing in the Journal as StSE2 is going to be free. P.S. Hope your daughter is well Matt. |

Articles are working best for me. Getting good backlinks will also bring in some good traffic and rankings as well. If you want instant traffic, you probably will have to pay for it. |

Be careful if you use PPC though - those search engines make an absolute killing.

There's more to life then just PPC. You got CPA, CPV, Solo ADs, and sponsored ads too.

There really are no end of ways to generate traffic. Money, when used wisely through paid ads like adwords certainly can speed up the influx of traffic, but then it becomes critical to do the maths correctly (calculating how much you spend vs the traffic, subscribers and ultimately revenues brought in). If you have no money, you can still bring in a lot of traffic using free ways. Videos, articles, Craigslist, social media...and so on. __________________ Need Traffic Fast? it depends what you need the traffic for, i use traffic to increase the price i get for my turnkey sites that i sell, so i can use things like visitorboost and if you select a category you can make sales to, every time i buy 15,000hits (£20) i usally make that back through selling a few affiliate products or through adsense, but if you want fine targeted traffic i would say ppc or articles, also i tested visitor boost with an affiliate link i bought 10,000hits and sold 35products which gave me a profit of about £240 in a week which aint to bad im in the middle of testing again could of been luck |

| PPC gives you instant traffic, but it costs. I have created campaigns in Google (adwords), Yahoo (Yahoo marketing), and 7search, and they all are great. I did find that 7search had the cheapest cost-per-click of the 3.

I don't think there's any one 'secret' to traffic. I believe in using as many ways as possible to drive traffic and testing new methods. Try something and if it works, great, keep doing it. If not, move onto something else. As for affiliate marketing specifically, content creation and distribution (whether that be articles, squidoo, hubpages etc) is a great way to get started without any financial risk. One thing I would say though is that even if you are doing affiliate marketing exclusively, you should also be trying to build your OWN business at the same time i.e. try and build an opt in list of visitors before sending them to the merchants sales page. Once you have this list, simply emailing them can be one of the easiest ways of generating traffic to any website you want. Richard |

| PPC traffic OR organic search traffic. Both are very targeted although I prefer the organic kind much more b/c once you get "there", you pretty much just have to spend a little time maintaining it and the traffic is pretty consistent.

As amateurish as this may sound, writing articles for ezinearticles and associated content and linking them to a Squidoo lens totally rocked for me. I would recommend stepping it up a bit and steering traffic to an actual website. I know I've been a Twitter evangalist lately, but I wouldn't use Twitter to sell other people's affiliate products. Everyone that I have seen try it, comes across as spammy. I would certainly use it to sell my own, though. |

Jennifer, what I have found is that when I write an article for my site, and when I write an article for ezine articles...I get more long-term mileage from ezine articles. I get traffic when it first appears. I get traffic if it's published in an ezine or on a blog. I get traffic over time as people see it on google and click on it and get to my site. Although I also make a point to fill up my site with good original content. |

Articles are great don't get me wrong. I'm a big advocate of them, but.. I submit... 2 articles a day 2 videos a day Create 2 squidoo sites a day 2 press releases a day 2 podcasts a day and alot of social book marketing But nothing compares to PPC, PPV and Solo's. I'm going to start testing CPA shortly. |

Focus on automation and outsourcing. We try to automate as much as we can first and then for the pieces we can't automate we outsource. Typically we figure out, or find a programmer that CAN figure out how to automate things we initially didn't think could be automated. I know U.S. people are immediately going to think "overseas" when they read outsourcing, but that's the killer. There are many things where you are MUCH better off paying someone more who you can converse with well even if you're paying them (theoretically) 2, 3, or 4 times more what you might pay someone overseas. |

The methods I've had most success with for getting traffic are -article submission (not just the big E) -video submission (youtube, metacafe etc) -google adwords (trying to cut down on this) -organic traffic (partly from the above, partly from SEO and partly have not figured out yet) I've tried the following with out success -classifieds -Squiddo/hubpage -social book marking The lack of success could be my product is not suitable, I'm making mistakes or need to put in more time. |

Create a plan and follow it. It is really as simple as that. Too many marketers have all the information but enough application. The idea is there but the execution is not there. Learn and apply and you'll start getting serious traffic. Focus on output and avoid low-value activities like chatting, leisure surfing when it comes to work. Principles are just as important as specific steps. Anybody can lay out the exact steps of what you need to do, but very few will apply them. So you need to understand a few things: your budget, your strengths and your weaknesses. If you have a lot of money to play with, focus on pay per click, banner advertising, traffic buying activities that will allow you to automate your business while you enjoy your day. For example, I recently started a major coregistration campaign that is paying some nice dividends for me. As coregistration is a totally automated process, I get leads from doing nothing other completing my payment and submitting my ad. If you don't have a budget to play around with, take stock of your strengths and weaknesses. If you love writing, consider using article marketing as your main traffic generator. Don't just think of writing for others; it's no different from a day job. If you love socializing, go and make friends. Go and build a huge Facebook and Twitter network. Add prominent business people in your niche to your Skype, Google Chat accounts. Form relationships. Joint ventures can become a big part of your game. At the end of the day, it comes down to taking stock of what your strengths and focusing on them and making them a part of your daily plan and long-term strategy to get serious traffic. Fabian |

There's no secret to getting traffic. You either work for it (writing content, scripts, etc) or pay for it (adwords, links).

I use target e-zine marketing and ppc to generate traffic to my affiliate website. Important note: When you direct prospects to your affiliate link make sure you have an opt-in page that offers a free e-book, DVD, CD or physical book. You want to generate the lead first. Once you generate a lead you can followup with your prospects with multiple affiliate products and services.
